Possibly new to vegas

Actually it is 1 out of 20 houses are in foreclosure. That is because when the prices were at there highest, people went out to refy their houses to buy new "toys" or remodel their homes, then once prices went down..all those people couldnt afford the payments.. thats their fault.. not Vegas.. just these people bit more then they could chew..ya know? and the schools are not that bad. I came from Ohio, where the schools in Cleveland are really BAD BAD BAD!!!! So, with my 2 boys in school in a GOOD neighborhood, like Seven Hills, the school is GREAT here. Yeah, Vegas schools just got a bad rap for not having good math scores on their tests, but thats not the school its self, its either the teachers for not watching or the PARENTS who tend to ignore their kids out here. Car theft is only bad because of all the NICE cars people HAVE to own out here.. I love vegas, its a great town, BUT I dont like raising my kids here not because of the schools, but because there is no where for them to go anymore without having to worry about getting hit by these maniac drivers..or when it gets to be like 115 out, they really cant go anywhere, I cant trust them going alone anywhere because of all the sickos, and we have no family out here. But job wise, I think it is GREAT! The houses out here are MUCH bigger then most places, and newer! Most of these houses were built in the last 10 years! That is still considered new in places like Ohio..
So, anyway, I hope this does help a little.. I also heard that Atlanta has been getting really bad lately.. is it true?

this is what i would do...
i would visit the area you would like to move to, in the morning, afternoon, then night.
check out how it changes through out the day.
what mabey nice during the day, might be poop at night!

When I was in vegas I really did not see anything that would make me not want to live there. I got a chance to see the good and the bad side of vegas but still nothing shocking at least not to me. We had my party at my friends uncle house and he lives in what would be considerd the rough side of town but everyone was cool. It really was no different than being here. As for Atlanta it really just depends on what part you are in as far as crime goes. Yes the crime rate has gone up but so has the population. The atl p.d is also under staffed as well, but most people with families live on the out skirts. In Roswell, Gwinette and Dekalb. Most of the crime is going south to Clayton Co and there schools are horrible they just lost their acreditation as well, sorry if I spelled it wrong public schools what can you do. Thanks for the response and I hope this answers your questions.

well, if you decide to come to las vegas, i'll welcome you!
not everyone's a prick here.
:)

My aunt lived in Alfaretta (sp?) and I remember how nice it was and how some areas were bad.. its just like cleveland, depending on what side of the street you were could be good or BAD... Like I said, I have seen the bad parts of town here and they dont even COMPARE to certain areas in Cleveland. I think you will like it here.. and like MOMS suggested, check out the area at night.. Our area is nice all the time.. besides the police shooting that happened down the street(which was just ruled justified) its a pretty good neighborhood! I would also agree to go through a private owner.. you have all of us out here to help you out when the time comes. WHat would you do for work out here? Do you have a job lined up already?

As far as work goes I am a car audio sales person as well as an installer. I'm a qualified truck driver and forklift driver. I also am certified for basic auto work after I do my advance installers certification I will start my ASE certification. Instead of going to traditional 4 year school I went to tech school. I figured all my hobbies are things I love so why not get paid I am also an audio engineer, I do song writing as well as production work. I also work with high school bands doing music arrangements and percussion arrangements. So the job market for me is wide open. I would probly look more at the install job. My goal is to build a car worthy of SEMA. I am also an IASCA sound quality world finalist.

I would say you shouldn't have to hard of a time finding a job. I've lived in Vegas all of my 29 years and would say it is a great place to live and raise kids besides the 115 degree summers. I have 3 kids, 2 of which are in school and are performing beyond their current grade level. It has more to do with the parents and teachers, just be involved.

That was one of my concerns raising a family there. I have been looking at houses in vegas as well as orlando now. It's kind of hard to choose, possibly great jobs in both places. I don't have kids yet but I know for sure I will be down that road between now and 30 so kind of weighing the pros and cons.

Well, vegas isnt that great to raise kids in, thats why I am wanting to move back to Ohio. BUT there are great areas for kids, like where we live, its pretty good- they have parks all over, good schools, etc.

Dam i guess i was Born here in Sin City, will born here and moved back home to hawaii for four years. Then came here for school KG to College. And i might say High School here is crazy. Kids wanna drink so badly to be cool. They can even wait until there 21 and when they turned 16, its racing time in there ******* cars.

Seems like it sucks to be in high school these days. Out here if you are not a weed head then you don't fit in. Plus 1 for vegas after Fay just it florida a record four times. I got my pre approval so the wheels are in motion. How is the rush hour in vegas?

Rush hours are in the morning around 6 or 7. I havent been on free on that time for awhile. Hmm Fridays sucks cuz everyone is going home to get ready to party and no one here can drive. Dont drive on Sahara cuz traffic sucks ass. Also when it rains drivers become stupid. especially young drivers. I was in front of the line turning left with Honda Prelude. He was reving his engine, I was ok dude its raining and were making a left and your rear arent you. So light turned green, i went off easy he was spinning his tires. He finally took off and hit the island and got stuck. ONly thing i did was point at him and laugh haha. Just watch out for stupid drives. Sometimes they dont look twice before changing lanes and most of the time they may cut in front of u with out signaling.

Ricers, what can you do? So fridays=frustration I can deal with that. Traffic is a pain here rush hour starts at 6 or 7 and last until noon sometimes, and then it cranks back up at 3. Living in atlanta can be a pain sometimes.
