Possibly a new way to make power

Mazda Speed Protege #987
My friend who tunes FD3s's (or rx-7s to laymen) has a friend that just tunes proteges out in Cali. He said that he has found more power when moving the maf sensor into the charge pipe before the TB instead of in the air intake tube. Since I have just finished my FMIC set up, i may experiment with this to see if any power can be gained.

Anyone have any ideas on this proposal? Thanks again... Bryan

I have the same issue with the super duper unbelievable richness, stalling, & stubling with the fmic stuff. Moving the maf to that position will only make it worse. It should throw off the sensor even more and cause more problems.

FREAKIN A!!! THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN ASKING ABOUT IN ALL MY "MOVING THE MAF" THREADS!!! DAMNIT YOU PPL ARE PISSING ME OFF!!!

except you are the weakest link, afaceinthecrowd!

(weakest)

btw what is the middle car in your sig? cant really tell what it is, could make some guesses but i dont want to look like an idiot, lol.

its an STI, bling bling.

but ummm yea. moving the MAS to after the BOV would make it to where you could blow off atmosphericly, but i dont know how much pressure the stock mas can hold. would keep it from stalling out.

no clue if it would make more power though.

whats the deal with the stalling by adding a bov. I just got a 2003.5 msp blazing yellow and was thinking about adding a greddy bov or an hks?????? And as far as the ecu problems is there anyway to swap it out with a stock protege ecu to solve the problem???

well there are stalling problems because the msp usually doesnt like bov that vent and also msp ecu does not need to be swapped out...i mean if you want we trade with the one in my mp3?......just kidding....msp ecu is already "trained" to see boost..
