possible to swap mazdapeed rotors with ES

I was reading the specs on the mazdapeed and noticed that it had bigger rotors/brakes. Would it be possible to swap out the rotors and calipers?? Possible bracket change or something.

Anything is possible, but where are you going to get the parts?
You can't have mine!
And it would likely cost more from the dealership than it would to buy a big brake kit from somewhere.

This is an interesting idea. If the caliper mounting brackets are the same on both the ES and MSP, you could just buy the MSP calipers and the rotors. I mean the MSP has the same bolt pattern as the ES, so I doubt the hubs are much different.

I would also think that in about a year, there will be plenty of aftermarket OEM replacement calipers and rotors available at places other than the dealership. There is no way that Mazda can limit the production of a consumable products like brake parts. They are a lot different than turbo manifolds...lol.

Yeah, but like Logan said, it would probably be cheaper(and better quality) to go aftermarket...Assuming you get a reputable kit, like the one from AEM, or Baer(sp?). Yes, they are expensive, but the stopping capabilities far surpass that of stock and the MSP's...

Agreed, but most big brake kits cost $1200 upwards. If an ES, P5, or MP3 owner is ready for a brake job, for a little bit extra, they could have slightly better equipment. I mean if all that is involved is calipers, pads, and rotors you could easily get those parts for well under 500 bucks. I probably wouldn't swap the parts until I was ready for a brake job though.

Honestly, that sounds like a decent price for regular Mazda parts. But you have no other option but to buy these MAZDASPEED parts from the dealer. That smells like a mark up to me!!

I haven't personally pulled the calipers from an MP3, but I know that the pads and rotors are the same as the ES and P5. My ES has single piston sliding calipers, so I would assume the MP3 is the same.

I'd really be interested in checking out the MSP brake parts.

I'd be a bit weary about the hubs. Remember the MSP has larger axles than the ES/P5. The hubs may not be interchangeable.

The MSP brakes are simply the European spec brakes. The ones that came on any of these cars shipped to Europe. That means they should already be in the parts system since like the intercooler and radiator (turbo diesel parts from Europe), already were in production. Mazda just used a lot of existing parts for the MSP that came from other markets.

The rotors are 11.0" instead of the 10.8 we got on the ES and MP3. The pads are quite a bit larger on the front. The calipers are larger and different on the front also. The axles are larger on the MSP, but that doesn't mean the axle stubs are bigger. I'd just about bet money that the axles came off the turbo diesel model also. Mazda is real bright when it comes to marketing something that they already made! Tell us all it's new and upgraded!

i was thinking of a brake upgrade about 2 days ago for my newly arrived msp... but i don't have the money after buying the car. i get paid minimum wage. so neways i was looking at the stop tech big brakes, and remembered my passionate love (not greater than my passionate love for my significant other) for Endless brakes. i looked up the applications and to my disappointment i found none for the protege, but to my UTTER disbelief and contempt, found some for a civic ex (no offense to the civic owners, it's just i came from a corolla board). does anyone thing someone can do a custom install for the 6 POT caliper, maybe the one for the WRX will fit??? i donno, just a thought for all you ppl that set aside money every month for your car.
