My Mazdaspeed6 is popping fuses on the parking/tail light fuse and here's why. A jack leg in a Tahoe last month swerved over and hit a piece of rubber in the road that came back and busted my driver fog and did some other light damage. Last week we had a bad rain and water must have got behind the housing and enough to cause a short and now my tail lights and parking lights were out. I have swapped out the fuses, pulled the bulb from the housing and disconnected it but still pop the fuse. This is where I'm stuck, any clues as to what the prob is now guys and how to fix?

unfortunately with everthing being multiplexed together through the body control module its going to be trial and error in finding the short. i could get you a wiring diagram and you could try disconecting some different things untill you dont pop the fuse anymore.

does the fuse pop the moment you install it, or key on, or lights on etc

The fuse wont pop untill I turn on the lights. i was figuring on it being a PITA, a wiring diagram would be great, thanks a lot!

I would guess that within your "light damage" a wire was chaffed or a clip was grounded. Could the lights have been pushed back slightly?

You sir are correct, the side marker wires got jacked up some how. After repairing this no fuses pop and parking and tail lights work. Thanks you two for the help. Now I need a replacement fog light because apparently you cant touch it.

I'm glad that helped.

For replacement parts, I like to use Montgomery Mazda out of Charlotte, NC. Just google montgomery mazda parts, and you'll find the site.

While on this subject, where is the headlamp relay located? My left HID only comes on when the car is on and running. This started when I replaced my high beams with LEDs, in which somehow possibly shorted out the relay to the left HID? Its really weird. I got the wiring diagram too. Thanks.

I can't help you there really but why would it matter if it's fine when the car is running?

According to the factory wiring diagram, the headlight relay is in the main fuse block.
