Possible new newb

Hey gentlemen and ladies! I'm currently checking out all kinds of new cars for my new commute to NYC and the Mazda 3 has really caught my eye. The station wagon part of the one I drove really gave me tons of room for golf clubs and the speakers for my weekend job as a DJ. It seems to have plenty of power, but was nimble enough for that awful traffic too. Most importantly though, I kept getting eyed by chicks as I drove by and that is something I've been missing in my Ford Taurus. Is the 3 a good fit for me?

Also, I'm looking at used models with less than 40k miles. What price range should I be looking at and are there any particular things to looks for?

yes! but be sure to get the 2.3! powerful! or a mazdaspeed 3!

Are those hard to find? The one I drove was a 3i like an iPod.

na there easy to find just make sure it says 2.3 on the doors lol and you will love the car its a good car and very reliable!

I used to have a civic, and all those guys would get the stickers off the fast ones to make their civic look fast. I'd hate to get a slow mazda 3 with fast stickers.

Speaking of my past civic life, do these cars really wake up with a nice catback exhaust? Is there a brand that everyone recommends like Skunk or Spoon?

ummm the 2.3 is pertty quick with a intake, exhaust, and header,,,but if you want more you can do like the timing mod, valves delete in ur intake manifold and ground ur throttle body and a hyper tech system!...

I believe Skunk does not make exhaust systems for the 3's. Spoon is a honda brand. Never speak of that here...

All mazda 3's are slow. Except a speed3. I have a Mazda 3 2.3 hatch and no matter what you put on it besides a turbo you're gonna be slow. Go for looks. Thats what I did.

Dont waste your money on parts you dont need. I know I did and I regret it. Not to be negative nancy, just telling you the truth.

I'd get a supercharger way before a turbo. Boost lag and torque steer are two things I do not want.

well my friend has a all motor 2.3 and he beats mustang gts, si, all them! i say go all motor but if you really wanna go fast go boost!

Youre gonna get tourque steer no matter what... Just drive your car.

Why are you guys so pushy that a turbo is the only way to make power? Has anyone put in high compression rotors and tried to put some nitrous to it? All the guys with mazdas were doing that back in the day. Anyway I found the one I want at a mom and pop dealer for 6k. It's a totally stock 2.3 wagon automatic. I sign all the papers tonight and then the search for some attention getting mods begins. What are the good brands/companies to buy from?
