i was wonderin what the price for a new msp hood painted blazing yellow would be (uhm) . the hood i have now has a buckle the size of a basketball because someone i know chose to roll across the front my car for a reason i have yet to figure out...dumbass  ...my car is already in the shop right now having some bumpers and fenders replaced from a girl pulling out in front of me (bang) , and we discovered the hood problem earlier today, and are trying to find a way to make it look like the hood was part of the earlier accident so her insurance can cover it. if this doesnt work, i was thinkin that if the replacement mazda hood is rather expensive (like all other replacement parts (rant) ) i could get a vis evo hood or an apc hood instead (and probably get it painted yellow, because i think it looks better). am i thinkin right? thanks alot yall

ill sell you my stock hood if youre interested. it titanium though...

right-o so no fraud...but does anyone know the price of a new protege hood? would it make sense for me to get an aftermarket hood because the stock and aftermarket are either same price or stock cost more?

would a stock painted blazing yellow be the same as or more than an evo style cf hood also painted yellow? (huh)

i dont know...i think id pay a little more to upgrade rather than just replace. where is the cheapest place to buy a vis evo hood? i think the lowest ive seen is maybe low 400's. anyone know some reputable places to look?

I would see if you can get it paintless dent removed 1st (even though you said it was creased (sp?) ) Then I would go w/ the C/F. What you just said though ( I would pay a little more) sounds good... take it out of his knee caps.

BTW, in the F/S section one guy is selling a C/F hood.. check it out

thanks alot for the help everyone. hopefully whatever hood i do end up with looks damn good - i just want my msp lookin purrrty as ever

Had to replace the hood on my MPV, OE hood cost $350 but INSTALLED cost $850 by the time I replaced the weatherstripping clips that break, got the necessary regulatory decals put on, had the hood painted, etc. That said, there's nothing like OEM paint - despite using a reputable bodyshop, the paint chips more on the replacement hood than the OE.

Get carbon fiber it's actually cheaper. Or... find a used hood in the right color (P5 and ES hoods fit too)... get DPR to do their level best and put up with the remaining dent... buy a hood scoop from JC Whitney and cover it up...

ive seen those scoops...but just lookin at them - they seem ghetto. the fact that you just tape em on makes me think they would look tacky..(notcool)
