Possible Clutch/Transmission problems

Hey all - I've been lurking since I got my MSP but seem to be having some trouble now :(

First let me say that when I try to shift into reverse, sometimes I have a hard time and it feels like it just won't change gears, so I have to let go of the clutch and then push it in again and then it'll shift into reverse. I've only had my MSP for about 3 months but this has only really been happening for the past 1-1.5 months.

Anyways, last night with the music up loud I tried to shift it into reverse but I had that problem described above but I wasn't paying attention and put some throttle and let go of the clutch a little when it wasn't fully in reverse, I guess I'd describe the shifter as being half way between neutral and reverse. Anyways, I know there was a loud grinding noise that I just couldn't hear at the time because of the music which I didn't realize till I was maybe ~2.5k rpms and the car wasn't moving.

After that happened I parked and there was an overwhelming smell in the car, like something burning. I assume it's the smell of a burning clutch but I have nothing to compare it to. The smell was definately strong in the car and around the engine bay. I left the car overnight and figured it'd be okay after it cooled down. Today I drove the car around town for ~30 minutes and while it was still driving and shifting okay, but the burning smell was back and again, pretty overwhelming. It seems to be coming from the left side of the engine bay as I can smell it from the drivers' side vents, around the front left wheel, and in the engine bay it is strongest in the area below the motor and the battery.

Anyone know what's likely wrong? Thanks again and sorry for the long post.

sounds like a burnt clutch to me...

the reverse issue is universal i think, sometimes i have trouble getting it into reverse, but i think that has to do with the short shifter as well

yeah that will work just fine.

but if they shipping on the exceeds the price to over the price you would pay at protegegarage.com, just order it from protegegarage

i dunno someone told me i think it was my friend wit a accord but u might not have enough gear oil so the reverse isnt gettin enough oil cuz i think they sit higher?? its a simple fix just change it cuz u dunno when it was done last i say synthetic(thumb)
