Possible buying the MSP

Hey guys, I stumbled accross the site last week on my lunch break, and have been visiting frequently ever since. I've been down to my dealer twice already and have been working with my salesman to get me into one of these bad boys. I think IM going to get it in yellow when the time comes. I've taken it out twice already> Once on a rainy day, and once on a dry day where I was able to put the car through its paces without busting it up in case I dont end up buying that particular one. But anyways I love the car, and cant wait to own one myself. But Im having a little trouble in deciding weather or not this guys trying to screw me over here. The car retails for 21, 500 correct? And for the month of july there running the 1,500 rebate. He factored that in, along with paper work fees, prep fees, conveyance, registration fees, and taxes too and my total came out to around 21,300. This sounds to high. SO I looked up the invoice price that the dealer pays for the cars and that was like 18,995 or somewhere around there. Meaning if ths guy selss me the MSP for 21,300 he just made a nice 2,500 off me. Does this seem to high. Obviously Im not going to get suckered in to a bad deal, so Im checking with you guys. Wut did you guys pay? Wut can I do to work him for the price a little? How can I bring him down. I currently drive a 93 Mazda MX6 which Im trying to sell. So this will be my first brand new car ever. Im new to this. ANy suggestions at all guys? Thx ahead of time. I look forward to checking the site more, and becoming an owner of this little rocket. Cya around. Oh and wut are you guys paying on insurance? alot?

I doubt you will find the 2003.5 anywhere under msrp. With the 1500 rebate your are lucking out. if he is selling you the car for 19k then youre doing allright. I havent heard of anyone getting 2003.5 under msrp yet.

Yes 21,300 does seem high when the salesman also factored in the rebate. I would talk to the salesman and try to talk him down, I have seen people on this board buy their MSP for much less. If the dealership where this yellow spedd is at has any 03 MSP on the lot, you might be able to get an 03 MSP for a hell of alot less than what you might get pay for a 03.5 MSP. As for insurance I pay 78 a month, but I'm also 28 years old too.

I'm sure it depends on the area. Here in NJ it seems like you can get them below MSRP and there are plenty to go around. Before the rebate was available I made an offer on my Titanium for $20,250 and the salesman accepted it right away. I wish I had gone lower because he accepted it too fast. Don't assume you will have to pay MSRP or higher.

im gonna b buying a msp i was the 2003 not lookin at the 2003.5 i dont like the wing at all.. but i cant seem to find out wat the 03s are going for? anyone know

to me 21,300 doesn't seem to high when you add in tax, title, lisence and fees... but then again taxes differ depending on where you are.. b/c if you use the rebate, that means you're getting the car for 20g.. so now that means you're paying 1300 in taxes and fees... my taxes were close to 1800 including everything (taxes, title, lisence and fees)... i mean title alone for me was almost 200$.. soo the price really depends on the area, but i'm sure you could talk him down a little more..

oh-- STLBLKMSP how in the world is your insurance only $78???? you have like no tickets or accidents on your record?? i'm paying like $160 a month w/no tickets, no accidents, good student and multi-car discounts.. and that's the cheapest i could find...

i got mine for 16500 but that was because the dealer promised me a payment and then couldn't meet it so they hacked some money off where are you at????

That seems about 1000 too high to me, but it depends on your area like the guy above me said. Just remember that you have to pay the tax BEFORE you subtract the rebate (at least in my state) so I'd say you should be paying around 20500. Depending on how much the title and that is, MAYBE as high as 21k, but I can't see much more than that. But again, just depends on how popular they are in your area too. And what your tax rate is - here it's 5%.:)

nocar I'll swap you my black mica 3-post 2003 wing straight up for the 2003.5 wing... but you have to handle your own bodywork to install!

MSRP is the highest I'd go, here in NJ they WERE overcharging for the MSP but there are many who got 'em for below MSRP...

Mazdaspeed1 I'm originally from Jacksonville Ill and I knew salesman with Country Companies in Jacksonville. Yeah I have no tickets or accidents on my record, to me 160 a month sounds high. I use to own a 92 vette and my insurance was $71 a month.
