Portland International Raceway track days

Ideally for the March 26th Lotus meet, and I might come down for that one anyway, but I wont organize the meet until I know Rob is going to be back, and I'm thinkin he might not be back until May, in which case we'll have to try our luck with the BMW or Porsche clubs.

I'd also like to come down for the Team Continental Driver training thing on Ferbruary 26th, do you know anything about that? Is it worth cutting my trip back to Alabama a couple days short?

Well I haven't done it yet but I've been thinking of doing it since it has instructors that will really help you learn how to drive in depth. Most track days you get a instructor but it's a crap shoot if that instructor will be any good. The instructors they provide during the track days are advanced drivers and some are sort of forced into it so they might not really want to help you learn. The first guy I had when I had my 944 was like a dad teaching his 15 yr old how to drive-a screamer and pants shitter .The other one I had last year after I bought my Mazda 3 was great ,really mellow and showed me on the 1st session out where and how to drive my car, then took me for a ride in his M3 that just blew my mind away . So I guess at the team contintal class you get instructors who really want to help you out.

I use to live across the street from a guy who owned a pair of older TVR's and was a member of Team Continental. He loved to invite people out on the Continental track days, regardless of what you drive. There were some pretty cool people there when I went, though it has been a few years.

I think they're pretty much the same still, hopefully.

I too have been told about Team Cont. being where its at. I also asked a couple of the Porsche guys about their days, and they explained how they run in three classes now, with so many cars, it makes driving unbearable to the point where they have the more involved racers staying home and not going. Anyone know how to contact this Team Cont.?

You guys should of came out.The first 2 sessions were rainy so it was more learning the "wet" line around the track because the "dry" line was slicker than snot but later in the day it dried up and it was a blast.
