Popped the Question

Ok, just had to tell somebody, and nobody is in the office yet this morning. I asked my girlfriend to marry me this weekend. (k) It was great. We took the boat out to the middle of the lake right about dusk, and I popped the question as the stars started popping out in the sky. It was very cool, and she was shocked, had no clue.
I'm not into the whole dinner thing, it's not our style. Figured this would be more fitting, and would be different.
Now I'm getting hitched! Err, that could go either way. :)
Anyway, now I have race tires too! (It was part of the deal)
It was a great weekend. :)

Wow Congrats...on the racing tires! :)

Lol, seriously dude, I couldn't be happier for you and your future bride! Let me be the first to wish you well and hope that you have a wonderful marriage together.

Naturally we'll be expecting pictures of the whole event! :D

Congrats

Congrats to you and your future wife. Surprises are the best.

Wish you all the luck and hapiness.... So when will see cjstringer Jr pictures....

Jc

You'll see pics of Jr. a few years down the road. We still have some travel plans we want to get past that would be difficult with little ones around. (Africa Safari and such)
Thank you guys. I'm looking forward to it. She's great, and is the first person I've been with that isn't 100% nuts, so I figured I'd hang on to this one. :) (She's still about 50%, but I think we all are. :) ) Had to make it permanent somehow, and now she has the fat rock that is my claiming flag.

Congrats! But how did you get tires out of the deal? What'd you get the ring at Sears and then mozy over to their tire dept???

I bought the ring at a local jeweler. She should be very happy as it was a very nice one. (Yes, I overspent again)
The tires were something I've been wanting for quite a while, but I was told that I couldn't get them until she got her ring. (We've been living together for over 2 years, and the ring is kind of a formality, but she's worth it.) Well, I found a ring I like, and spent way too much money, then remembered I could get my race tires once she got the ring, so I ordered them from tirerack.com . It's my autoX setup in my sig. The tires and rims just happened to be coming in before I got the chance to ask, so I had to ship them to a friends house. Very sweet set, recommended by cfbjr. Can't wait to get them on and race with them. I hope the grip is amazingly different than street tires.

CJ, Congratulations to both of you.....the setting sounds like something so appropriate, and something I would have done. I love looking at the stars in the dead quiet of a clear night.

IF you like that setting too....and want to give her something for her birthday or christmas or just "BECAUSE" here is a suggestion that is very personal....and NO ONE will or could EVER have one just like it.

go to The International Star Registry and get your lady her very own star....thats right....you can actually have a star NAMED for your lady love. there are a few different "kits" you can buy...but the framed certificut is beautiful...and you ge tthe star chart so you can go out and FIND the star...and its there forever.... Just a thought.

Thanks for the idea, SirNuke. I have thought about that too. Problem is, she rented some movie recently where a guy did that for his girlfriend and it might be cheesy if I do it soon, but I will save it for sometime in the future. I'm into different things like that. Never been known for doing the norm. :)

Reminds me of when I bought my wife her engagement ring. It only took me a couple of hours and 4k's. :'( But well worth every penny if you truly love her:D . That was 6 years ago. Now its time to get those diamond earrings shes been wanting:eek:

I did the ear rings for her birthday and the necklace for Christmas both last year. It was pretty fun teasing her with jewelry boxes. :)

Congrats on the engagement! The tire part was pretty funny... just like a man to get something out of every "deal" he makes. LOL... smart girl you've got there!

Damn man, That's classic!!:D Congratulations on pulling off this one, and I wish you both well.

Hmm, is the movie your wife-to-be rented A Walk to Remember?? I think the guy named a star after Mandy Moore! Oh, that movie sucked big time :) "I've known you for a few months, we're in high school, I love life in the fastlane, you're a smart, religious, conservative girl, hell, I'll just change my whole lifestyle, and let's get married 'cuz you got cancer!"

Oops, almost forgot the mandatory congrats :) Are you going to be sending your son/daughter(s) to racing school before they can walk? :D I remember seeing on tv children of some Nascar racers in some little pee-wee league cart racing, they were like, 6 years old! Well, maybe more, but not much more!

Your one lucky guy Cjstringer...smart move...good luck...wish ya the best. ;)

Thanks everyone!
As a matter of fact, I hope my kids (someday) are interested in racing. I'd love to get them into karting at a young age. It would give me an excuse to get back into it also. :)

Actually Kats, I'm hoping to get them put on the stock rims later this week. I just needed a set of race tires so I could make my next set of streets last more than 10K miles.
Again, thanks Kat. Hope everything is goin good for you down there.
