errrr  , im just glad it happened near my developement so i could push the car home and get it safely in the garage.

alright now the story. i was coming home from wilmington, had noticed that the clutch had seemed to be slipping lately, but didn't really put much thought into it for some reason. it drove around wilmington this afternoon great. got near my house. actually could see the sign for my developement. made the turn onto the road that i live off of, went to shift into second and nothing happened. no clutch engagement. just reved. luckally there wasn't any traffic so i was able to coast into my developement. and got about halfway to my house before i finally ran out of steam. had to call my dad and we pushed it on home.

oh well, i guess it gets a roll back ride to stevenson tomorrow to get a new clutch. maybe i should just upgrade to the act one now since ive got to do it for the turbo soon anyway. oh well.

how i feel (sad1)

that truely sucks...id say either get the act(with flywheel of course), or buy kooldinos stock clutch

My clutch went out on my first car, an 82 Volvo 240 DL. I just pressed in the clutch and heard a loud pop. I looked down and saw the pedal just hanging there.

James are you gonna get them to install just a stock clutch? If so it should be under warranty of course ... I saw your car up there like a week or two ago what was that about? oh and they have a ES and a P5 in the mica blue up there now  .

IF your car is stock, you should get replace under warranty. There's no reason that the clutch is done only after a year..... unless you did too much drag racing.......

a week or 2 ago it was getting the rear swaybar bushings, and the dealership is being an ass. (can a dealer be an ass?) and they want to charge me for it, ******* like 450 for the clutch and someother bs, so im going to politely tell them to **** off, get an act clutch, and get it put in somewhere else, ******* dealer ship, and yes my car is stock, besides a cai, but they cannot claim that it produced enough power to burn the clutch, ******* bs.

Derrick took the words out of my mouth. My stock clutch still has a decent amount of life left to it, so if you want it, I'll sell it to you. If you have $, go for the ACT, but if not, I'm here for ya.

Yeah James if you want the stock clutch mine is here in Wilmington...Just let me know.. and all hell has broke loose there since they fired Eric.

I'd stay away from ACT. if Clutchmasters makes a setup go for that.
i had a ACT in my RS. and it sheered ALL the teeth of second ger. then i installed a Dogbox tranny, $7500 later that same POS ACT killed my Dogbox.
well i think i have a new world record for discus trowing!!!

after another 3K later i put a CM stage 3 in the RS and things are GREAT!

ACT uses a stock disk with a sky high pressure plate. this shocks the tranny like no tomorrow and sell.. there wasnt a tomorrow!

the CM uses a slightly higher rate PP and a different material on the disk depening on the stage you get

my 2C

wow! I'll deffanly look in to clutch masters now!! I always thought of act as a good company but hearing that you had trouble with it is pretty disconcerting info! thanks!

My clutch install cost me $200 at HP. If you do the flywheel at the same time it will be the same, 200.

They fired Eric? Man, they must be cleaning house. My salesman, Jason Sixkiller, is working at National Auto now. Stevenson blows. I have like 6K miles left on the warranty and if something breaks I am going togo the hell off on whoever the service manager is now. I have paid for a tranny and a wheel bearing.

yea, eric got fired from stevenson mazda a few months ago, hes at the acura dealer now, the new service manager is a prick he doesn't know anything about the cars, and he tries to talk to you like he does among other stupid things he does. that whole dealership is going down the tubes, my mom was thinking about getting a mazda6 but after the coustomer service (or lack there of) we've been getting lately shes considering getting a 350z.

I don't know about this. I don't think any clutch is going to fail unless you are/were a bad shifter (did you learn to drive manual on the MP3?) or if you abuse it. If it failed on its own, good luck trying to convince the dealership! Sorry this happened my man.

Chris

nah, didn't learn on this car, never really abused it, but ive given up on trying to convince them, hopefully the dealer will blow up after i get my car back, i hate mazda service, and i hate my dealership since they fired all of the cool people that worked there.

Man, I have worked in car dealerships a long time a no matter what brand a car you got, a clutch (or brake pads for that matter) will never be under warranty. If the clutch is gone after a year, it is sad to say but it is probably your fault (foot resting on the pedal while you drive or slipping it too much in first). Anyway, good luck but don't wait for Mazda to pay for one...
;)

yah... clutches arent supposed to be covered under warranty... thougt that was common knowledge... a clutch IS BUILT TO BURN OUT EVENTUALLY.... if they were under warranty... that would just be a car company asking to go broke.... its just like brake pads... brake pads arent under warranty are they? neither are tires?? all the same concept... made to wear out eventually.... now if something is worn before its "supposed" to... then you screwed... sry man... sux 4 u but its true....

Chris from Florida here, My clutch went about a month ago whole damn thing was fried. I stopped at a stop sign one night and went to engage and bam nothin! I feel the pain. My clutch had been slipping about 3 weeks prior so if anyone else is experiencing this make ur dealer look at it. I took it to my dealer before she died and they told me nothin was wrong with it BS!!! 3 weeks later i am back again but they covered it and all was good i have CAI and full exhaust. Sorry man.

P.S.
Anyone know where I can find the carbon Fiber dash kit
