OK. 2005 Pontiac Bonneville GXP. $35,000. Has the Northstar V8. And THIS is what the interior looks like:

AAGGGGHHHHH! Who the hell designed that!? Why do Pontiac interiors suck so much worse that any other car company? I wouldn't buy the car anyway, but seriously, who looks at that and say "Yeah, that looks great for a $35k car. I'm going to buy that instead of a (300C, Acura TL, etc)."

it looks like an overcrowded mish-mash...
GM and the realm of plastic!

ok I see some things I don't like, but what is it that really bugs you about it?
Convoluted mess, shiny plastic, absurd vents, Playschool buttons, etc. I admit that I've ALWAYS hated Pontiac interiors, I just thought maybe they would have tried a little harder on a car they are selling for $35k.

Here's an even worse shot, if that is possible:

The Bonneville is just another victim of GM design blunders. But, don't worry...ole' Bob Lutz will revilatize GM with his super duper, antiquated ideas about what car buyers REALLY want in design. He's such a genious, after all....

Some of Bob's brilliance:

Let's import a car from Australia, don't give it any legacy styling queues, cut its' balls off, and call it a GTO! Or....let's make an Impalla SS, but make if FWD and V6, but paint it black and it'll sell goddam it....or let's take a car that used to rock the pavement and make it into the car everyone will want to drive to and from the grocery store - go Malibu..........or, let's make Oldsmobile Alero's and slap a few with 442 decals and call it a "442" edition, but not expect anyone still alive to know what a REAL 442 is.....

Yah!....good job there Bob'o - you deserve that raise...

I'm just waiting for GM mediocrity to seep into Saab....

(I don't want to hear about common vehicle platforms and global/cost leveraging for profitibility - I'm arguing on principle here. If you're going to make cars that "harken back" to the GM legacy, then do it right.....Ford and Daimler-Chrysler at least have the balls to take concept to market and still be true to the "legacy").

yeah, its not the greatest interior, but there are worse. the toyota echo comes to mind. BLEH

in defense of Bob Lutz, the impala and monte carlo were screwed before he came into the job. He at least got the nimrods to slap superchargers on them until the next model refresh. I can't say I dislike the GTO all that much. It's fast, it corners great, it is clean and the interior is very sweet. Blaupunkt audio in a GM car?!?!? Things like that there say they are improving, slowly but surely. Plus he got the Solstice off the ground and into production, which should be more than a worthy Miata competitor (which is great because the compeitition should give Mazda that much more incentive to make an even better Miata :D )

Now, the Malibu Maxx, the SSR, the Saturn Ion (hell, saturn anything) - I'd have to agree, WTF was he thinking?

i think good old lutz is doing some good things for gm. GTO while not the same as the old school design is a great car. c6 corvette will be a good update on the c5. soltice is coming and the new sts is finally a car that can compete with the imported luxury cars. I mean up till this year the seville has front wheel drive and a 4 speed auto, where almost the entire playing field had rear or all wheel drive and 5 speed, 6 speed, and now even 7 speed auto. Plus the interior doesn't look all cheapified now.

GM's never really had a nice interior that i can remember, the test will be the C6 vette interior because supposedly thats one of the things they concentrated on improving. The buttons look cheap and break up the flow of the console and the information delivery system is horrid, a single line cheap display, they need to take a few insterior styling cues from non domestics that have managed to clean up the form without sacrificing function.

I tend to use "some good" very loosely....

Again, I'm not fighting on performance, quality, etc. here. Yeah, the new goat hauls - happy day.....

I'm arguing on principle - if you use the old car name monikers, you better damn well live up to it. I dunno...maybe I'm just an old school rodder in the end...GM has no shame...

Why can Ford bring the Mustang back to it's roots and still rock it?

GM sucks now. i used to be all chevy, GMC, etc, but their new lineup is just horrible. even all the new chevy cars look like ass. ive even started looking at (i know, i know, dare i say it) ford for a good new truck. and thats saying alot because ive refused to even ride in a ford before. but it looks like fords just pulling their heads out of their ass, while GM is just trying to figure out ways to jam it up there a little more.

looking at that picture has made me dizzy.

^^ hehehe yep

but you guys are laughing at pontiac .... chevrolet is worse. Most of Chevrolet's and Pontiac's models are the same with a different name, etc. Pontiac always had a nicer interior ... my parents owned a Pontiac Transport (actually got stolen) and now they have a Chevrolet Venture .... the interior is not comparable at all. The Venture sucks .. everything about its interior is pure crap compared to the Pontiac, then my P5 looked 100 times better than the Transport (with nearly half the price) and now the MSP is even better then the P5, therfore, the MSP = perfection

lol
