polyurethane/hybrid frp replica parts

anybody interested in trying to get replicas of some of the popular, but often cost prohibitive, appearance mods? i was talking to a friend who has worked with shine in the past and he said a committed group of 20 could get a piece molded and produced. shine is well known for making quality oem fitment replica pieces [one i think of immediately is the asm front bumper for s2000's]. this was all casual conversation, but im wondering if any of you have a serious interest in making lower cost with higher durability exterior mod pieces.

a few that come to mind:
- dg motorsports parts [front lip, rear diffuser]
- autoexe aero [front bumper, grill]
- gv front lip
- re-amemiya lip kit [front, sides, rear]
- the list could go on...

i know nextmod has done a group buy on some pieces - i also know there are a few pieces available on ebay; however, for the most part, those group buys and offers are somewhat limited at the moment.

in any case, just fishing for interest.

i wonder if there's anyone out there who can make something more aggressive like the j's racing front lip diffuser that they have for fits/civics:

If you could do the re-amemiya lip that would be AWESOME. And I'm sure I speak for a lot of people. I'd love the sides and rear as well, pending price.

im thinking a re-amemiya lip kit [front sides and rear] would be ideal. the main problem would be sourcing an original piece to base the mold off of. if someone in the los angeles area has/can get a hold of the complete kit [maybe a distributor or shop], then getting the molds done shouldnt be too big of a problem.

if we can round up 20 people for a complete kit, we can get it going. 20 people meaning cash deposits - i dont think serious internet interest will get this off the ground.

Well as soon as you get ahold of the complete kit let us know. I for one am very interested.

anyone with a dg front splitter, rear diffuser, autoexe front bumper, or any of the re-amemiya pieces that could contribute would be appreciated... otherwise im trying to see what it would cost to have them design a lip from the ground up.

Whats the deposit? I would love a complete kit.
I'm interested in that autoexe grill too.

ive been looking through lip group buy threads and whatnot, it just seems like the ms3 community doesnt have a simple, attractive, affordable front lip available to them. the gv [which must be painted] will run over 250 shipped not including paint [an extra 100-150]. putting you near 350-400 for a REPLICA!

when i had my sti, i could get a v-limited replica in abs that i wasnt afraid to take down ramps and over speed bumps for less than 150. fitment was great and it doesnt require any paint [though the simple shape lends for diy painting easily]. i think a dg style [or similar] lip would be the most cost effective and durable option as far as lips are concerned. perhaps if we could have air splitters integrated into the sides [see the j's racing front lip] it would be a little more interesting.

what do you all think?

im gonna get in touch with my friend and see how feasible it would be to design a cheap abs/hfrp lip [like the dg]. im thinking if it looks similar/better, has typical shine fitment, and has a low price point, this could really pick up nicely.

until we can get a hold of something to make molds from, it would be difficult to produce a multi-piece lip kit.

i think the original concept had it correct: aggressive styling and functional aero. a kit like this would definitely get people excited. the ms3 just needs some more aggressive styling cues.

after talking to my friend, we would need 10 prepaid buyers to get a mold made. i think he would need to see the piece to tell us how much it would cost, but lips typically cost between 125-200 each. i think the easiest and cheapest to mold would probably be a DG lip.

if anyone is socal has a DG lip in perfect condition that they'll let shine borrow for a mold, we can get things moving. it can be made in cf or hfrp, though hybrid frp will be more cost effective.

PLEASE make something for the rearend! Any lips or rear add-ons would be great! They make add-ons for the sedan mazda 3 but nothing for the hatch to go on the rear or rear sides without going RE (ugly) or DG which only goes on the middle only.

something for the rear sides, similar to this:

they make this for the SEDAN but not for the hatch:

these scome stock on some of the sedans and hatchbacks, not sure if they would also fit the speed3

those look like they would fit the speed 3, I would check into that first....looks like the exact same shape.
