Is it me or are those tires not wide enough I would get thicker tires I would hate to hit a curb with those rims
That's called tire stretch. The guy did it purposefully. It allows you to fit more wheel under the fender/quarter panel.

Personally id go with the 18x8.5 throw some 235/40/18 tires on their roll the rear fenders, it would be TITS!
