I blacked out mine jsut like your number 2 choice.....looks good, I have to do it darker. I suggest wet sanding in between coats so it comes out smooth and shiny. Its kind of dull how it is now.

yea mine are pretty dull now, I'm gonna look for some clearcoat spray to make it a bit more reflective

this is one of those mods that I highly discourage for all....yes it looks nice...but it does something else as well....it makes it so you are not as visible on the road....not only at night...but during the day as well....IF blacked out your brake and running lights are not as likely to catch the attention of the person behind you...and that can cause YOU a big problem if they aren't paying attention....and just how many idiots have we ALL seen driving around the streets not paying attention.....WAY MORE THAN I CAN COUNT....thats how many....so my advice and .02 is to leave them alone....if anything get some super bright ass LED's to put in your tail end so there is no way someone can NOT see you.

Funny story....

After 2 failed attempts to make the clear coat look right, I stripped all the paint off with laquer thinner and put them back on the car

so they're staying red
