Please !! Anyone with a air intake kit COME IN !!!

Okay...this is the story....I just bought my air intake kit today and me and a couple of buddies just installed it....But one problem.....
When I put the gear in DRIVE......the gas pedel shakes.....and when I stop the car the break pedel shakes.......But it doesn't shake when I put it in PARK....O yeah...mine is a automatic car...
We think is the pipe hitting againest something.....So we decide to tighten it up more....the shaking decreased but still there.......I feel a big difference becoz I just got my car two weeks ago and only 900+ KM on it....
So here is the question for people who have a intake system....
Does your pedel shake while you drive or in park ??
If you have a picture of your intake system....please post it....it would be great...Thanks !!!

O yeah....one more thing......The intake works perfectly fine....nice sounds......just great......But just can't get over the feeling when I am driving while the pedels shakes... =(

how long have you had the intake installed? did you notice a difference in the RPM at idle? if your idle dropped...it could be that...OR most likely this:

did you DISCONNECT the negitive battery terminal before you installed your intake and replace it after you were done? if not.....you should have, Yeah, I know...the instructions for your Intake didn't tell you to do this right? Neither did mine, but after reading MANY posts about intake installs, and hearing about a LOT of people having similar troubles as you, I did it...and had NO PROBLEMS what so ever, and why?.....becasue this will reset your ECU.....by changeing the intake the ECU sees slightly different readings at thinings like the air temp sensor and the MAF....and it, the ECU, needs to RELEARN the intake system.....if you cleared your ECU by disconnecting your battery while you were doing the install....then all you needed to do was restart your car and let it idle for about 10 to 20 minutes or so and you would be all set.....other wise it just takes it a while longer since all the previous readings are still stored in the ECU and its comparing them.

So do people here recommend disconnecting the negative battery terminal and replacing it during your intake installation? Would you also apply this method not just to the automatics, but also the manual transmissions as well?

I'm sure some folks out there probably didn't experience any shaking even without making the ECU re-learn the intake system after installation. Oh well, interesting.... ;)

I dont have a P5 or an automatic but i get a shutter under certain situations... you may want to check under your piping for the intake and see if its rattling against something... i had to adjust mine once.... but its mostly gone now....

There were reports of the intakes (esp. the MHP) vibrating against the brake booster or master cyl., and could cause the pedals to vibrate.
Also do the battery cable thing. Even if you don't immediately experience noticable probs, just to make sure the ECU sets up correctly.

Hi SirNuke....

Let see...I just installed my intake yesterday night......I noticed a increase in my RPM............
I am gonna head down to Mazda today to see if they can help me with this problem....
About unplugging the negative, I heard about it in other posts too....but does it actually work at all ??

Had same problem on Auto tranny Integra I owned, just reset the ECU (disconnect battery for 5 minutes) and let the car idle after reconnecting - shouldn't need to idle for more than 10 minutes. Turn car off, then back on, should be fine.

YES, YES AND YES.....you need to reset the ECU....if you don't....it will EVENTUALLY learn that you have changed the intake, that there is something diffrent there....and correct for it....but if you reset the ECU from the beginning....none of those bad things should happen....I have even seen ENGINE TROUBLE lights come on for a while after NOT resetting the ECU. and it makes NO difference whether or not you have an automatic or a manual transmission.

and if you have an automatic....closely inspect to ensure that your piping is NOT touching anything....the interference is especially close on the auto.

ECU fuse

Will disconnecting the ECU fuse do the same thing as disconnecting the negative terminal on a battery? THX.

:)

Yep, in fact that's how I used to reset my ECU in my previous Civic. But I'm not sure if there's one for the P5

air intake

before I had my injen intake I had a cheap intake from auto zone and a k&n cone filter. when I put it in I herd a nocking noise when I got on and off the gas, turned out the intake was hitting the master-cylinder. so I fixed it. ......but no pedal vibration. look around make sure its not hitting anything.

Let see........So basically what you are saying is that I have to take out the negative out.....what does IDLE mean ??
And I wait 10 mins and put the negative back on ?? Negative is the black one...right ??

So you guys keep saying I have to take out the negative before I install the air kit.......
Now is too late coz its in there already....So is it still okay if I just unplug it and wait 10 mins or something ?? Or do I have to unplug at the beginning of the installation ??

no...its not too late....but the question is....do you still have a problem of it running a little rough at idle? do you still have your peddle shake? how many miles have you driven since you did the install? you see....after a little while of driving the ECU will learn and correct for the new intake....so IF you want...YES you can NOW go and reset your ECU.....then just start up the car and let it idle for about 10 minutes. and then you are all set.

What does Idle mean ??
I only ran like less then 200km with my new intake now.......
So if I decide to reset the ECU I unplug the negative....wait 10 mins and out it back on ?? Sorry guys....I am new at this.....

What does Idle mean ??
I ran like maybe 200km since I got the intake.........
So if I reset the ECU everything would work fine ??
So I unplug the neg. and put it back in after 10mins ??

White...if you have driven the car for 200Km since you did the install...it should have had plenty of time to RELEARN ..... you can reset it...it certainly can not hurt any thing.

SirNuke....So please tell me how do I reset it ?? I still dont get what does idle mean ??

I think he means to just let the engine run in neutral while your car is in stationary position. Reset like they said, either by unplugging the negative terminal of your battery or removing the ECU fuse... assuming you can find the fuse.
