Played with an STI

I was driving home from the Twins game and came along a silver STI with exhaust and a BOV. We were toying around a little bit on the freeway. We both exited and found a good straight road. We raced twice. The first time I jumped him by about a half car length which was unfair but he wasn't catching up to me. After that race he was asking what I had done to my car. I tried to tell him my mods but who knows if he heard. Then he said, and I quote " I had trouble keeping up with you." We raced again. This time it was fair. We both went after the three honks and we were dead even until I shifted into 3rd where he gained about a half car length on me but as I was was ripping through 3rd I was slowly gaining. I then slowed down cuz I didn't wanna go to jail tonite but I'm fairly confident I would have stayed with him if not passed him in 4th gear. We talked after the race and he gave me lots of compliments. What the hell? I thought I would get smoked by him. I'm sure someone is going to say BS or he was a bad driver but I saw what I saw and was very surprised. I'm running 9 to 9.5 Psi (depending on the gear), GHL full turboback, FMIC, DSM AFC, CAI, and other stuff in my Sig that doesn't make me faster. Anyways, a great experience.

I wouldn't call it a kill. I'd say we were pretty even as far as acceleration goes.

I played with an 06 sti. both in 2nd gear approaching a stop sign. He punched it first started pulling, then I punched it he stopped pullin, I was starting to catch up. Then we both had to brake quickly at the stop sign lol.

All my mods and I'm sure he was stock. And I was only at 5psi and still am. But now my car is injured so I gotta fix it before I can race anything.

Interestingly enough always remember just because they put out 300HP, that is at the crank. The AWD unit in the Subaru is a very nice piece but it will extract allot on an otherwise stock car. Yea, Yea I know they post sub 5 second 0-60 times but that is how they are geared. Anything over 30mph it would and should be a great race with your car. HP numbers mean nothing if you have the better power to weight ratio.

Remember racing is fun, safe and legal at the track (headbang)

The thread on the MNSubaru forums got closed down. It's funny how much attention it drew and the fact it was closed becuase the Subie guys started arguing with eachother. Thanks Aaron for the many laughs. I just got lucky I guess.

It was posted all in good fun. Thread or no thread, it doesn't make either car faster or slower. What amazed me is how split the forums members were. Some were cool, some were defensive @ssholes. The thread was posted in an attempt to bring the driver in question to surface and be known.

I like the subie guys and like to be welcome to participate in events with them. It did amaze me how defensive some of them were in response to the thread. That said, plenty of them were very cool and had fun with the thread. Kind of surprised it was locked.

Let it be known, I didn't name the thread...... I had some 'help' from a subie posterboy on how to title it (shady)

Yeah why was it locked? It wasn't getting too brutal. Funny, today was the first day I've ever looked at that site to see a huge thread about me. I might keep posting there. Some guys seemed pretty nice except for Zapman. And a big no on the license plate thing. Ok just kidding. I went to the DMV and ordered them today.

the thread being locked was pretty dumb, but it was funny seeing all the sub owners gettnig their pants all wet. I know it was because of the title, but look at the power/wt ratio of the 2 cars and you know its a toss up. silly.
