I'm getting a light plasticky (if that's a word) rattle from the front of the car. It sounds like it could be inside the dash or the engine bay. I suspect its the piece next to the battery covering the ECU but I'm not sure. Anyone have the same thing? Also its not there every time I drive. Not temperature, throttle, or driving style dependent.

i wouldnt worry to much.

a car is thousands and thousands of parts... something is bound to make a rattle or two.

if it becomes prominent than id be more worried, but dont stress to much.

check under the car. See if the splash shield has all the bolts attached.

chattering noise

I had a "chattering" noise coming from the area of the dash and the windshield. Other forum members have had the same problem and after having Mazda install 8 clips between the windshield and the cowl had mixed results. I will tell you I had it done it immediately fixed the problem. If you search for this problem on the forum you can find a snapshot of the Mazda fix for the problem. If you can't find it send me a message and i will get it to you. I took it with me to dealership which helped a lot since they are usually clueless....good luck

^^ beat me to it I tried to find the threads myself for ya but I had no luck. almost everyone has this problem. You should ask the dealer too if under warrantee they can do a fix for you but it will come back. mine did. I plan on bringing it back. I swear I was one of the first that asked the dealer to fix this problem. I went back two or three times and they finally resolved. There's actually a youtube vid of the problem. Its funny makes such a terrible noise when not much going on

So leaving it unfixed is no big deal? I just put my intake and BPV on and don't want to take them off just to get something silly replaced.

My car is doing it again not as bad. If I can find the youtube video this guy is just pushing on the clip and it would make the awful noise like a pencil rolling around under the dash. I'm not to privy on where exactly it is but if you search around here there are some threads on it. I wouldn't worry about brining your car in for a rattle with the BPV & intake. They'd have a tough time proving your intake & BPV caused the rattle ;0) My recommendation find out more info on what the problem/fix is and bring it in because there is a chance the dealer will scratch their heads with the rattle. It drove me nuts so I brought it in and I may as well before my warranty is up for the hell of it.

Then again if you're comfortable with it... you can fix it yourself.
