well, too much for limited production, im feeling like they pulled a very bad one @ us... especially some of us who actually paid something over MSRP....

well, the bright side, seems like we dont have to worry for a turbo, unless they actually make it for the new v6 engine....

ok, just re-checked, its gonna be a turbocharged 2.0!!!! now lets hope its the same engine, so now we can have turbocharged mp3s that are still in warranty!!!!

I hope that's just pre-production hype. Remember when Ford said they were gonna release a Turbo's SVT Focus. I'll be friggin mad if this is true.

The new ones they are talking about might have a turbocharged engine and whatnot... but they wont be called "MP3s" anymore... MP3 ARE limited and they are only a one year thing~

Actually ford is selling the turbo focus. i am reading the mag that says it. i dont know if any of you remember the FR200, well for is going to sell a limited abount of them. its going to cost around $30,000. in the range to compete with the Lancer Evo 7 which will be here in 2 months for around 35-45 g's and the new WRX STI which will be here soon also for around 30-36 g's.
but my opinion on that thing ford calls a car, the FR200 looks like crap and i wouldnt get caught dead buying a 30,000 dollar focus.

ALSO the TURBO Protege isnt going to be the same as the MP3 its going to have totally different wheels, and what not. Mazda told me they are going to keep the Limited Prod. MP3's differ from the newer itterations.

But if Mazda comes up with a turbo For the 2.0L engines I think it would cost both arms...both legs and then some.. hahaha it will prolly be way more than a custom one


But if they really do come up with one does that mean that our warranty wont be voided because its an OEM part?

i really hope mazda uses a different spoiler and front grill and wheels so it looks nothing like ours. as for the turbo i dont think ill be able to afford that for a while so for now i just hope i have the best looking car around even if its not that fast.

car companies are known for hype like this...so i wouldnt really expect it...the cost of the car would probably run into the high 20s low 30s..in which case you'd be better off buying an rx-8

SOMEWHAT OF GOOD NEWS ON THIS.
CAR COMPANIES ARE PUTTING OUT 2.0 LIKE THE WRX BECAUSE IF THEY WERE TO UP IT TO A 2.5, THE CLASSES WOULD CHANGE AND THEY STILL WANT TO KEEP THE SAME MARKET GOING. JUST LIKE THE IMPREZA 2.5 I DIDNT DO SO WELL AS THEY HOPED. SO THE RELEASED THE 2.0 TURBO WRX(THIS IS JUST FOR INSTANCE)TAKE THE LANCER THIS YR IT HAS 120 HP FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. NEXT YR THEY WILL BRING TO THE STATES A AWD, AND UP THE HP.I WONDER WHY? IF YOU ASK ME THE MP3 SHOULD OF HAD A ROTARY ENGINE.I DONT SEE THEM PUTTING A 6 IN THE NEW MP3 OR WHATEVER THE CALL THE NEXT MAZDA PREFORMANCE SERIES.

I don't think anyone has thought of this yet. If Mazda does put out the turbo for the 2.0, it will be an OEM part. If you join an autocross club and start autocrossing(at least 2 per year), you can get OEM parts at dealer cost. Some say the soloII racing voids your warranty, some say it doesn't since you never get over 60mph. So you can get the turbo at dealer cost but it might void your warranty. Someone can probably email Mazda with this soloII question to make sure. But I've heard it will not void the warranty.(Just what I've heard, I'm not sure) It's worth checking into though.

Mazda will soon complete development of next-generation direct injection gasoline engines and plans to apply them to 2003 models. According to Mazda, they have increased fuel efficiency by 150 percent, compared to their conventional direct injection engines while reducing emissions by 20 percent (90% for particulate matter). They used newly developed combustion systems, which efficiently control mixed air in cylinders for ignition. The new engines will be first applied to the new Familia (1.5 liter). Mazda plans to combine them with the newly developed NOx catalyst that will reduce emissions 50 percent lower than regulated figures. Next year, Mazda also plans to apply new systems to new 2 liter inline 4 cylinder engines, developed with Ford. "
