I noticed there was a lack of pictures of the mazdaspeed CAI installed.
I know that when I was finalizing my decision on getting one I wanted to see pics and I didn't find one until after I had it ordered.

The tight mazdaspeed sticker has got to be worth at least 30HP and 50ft lb of torque.

So did you do it or have the dealer do it?

I have the extended warranty on my car so I had the dealer do it. But the CAI and installation was all free because I used Mazda gift certs.

to kepe the warranty they hadto install it??
My shop said as long as what you put on isnt the problem. and as long as maintenace recods or recipts are kept,. warranty cant be void.
I hope they didnt pull that on you just to spedn your certs?
nice on the intake. how is the diffrence. Good job oon it. even free is good!

Let us know if it makes a difference in the amount of soot on your exhaust. Several of us are trying to pinpoint the so called re-flash/fuel dump (soot) and if it's linked to a specific Mazdaspeed end state i.e. the extra air needs extra fuel to have that happy balance. The whole "preplanning" of the Mazdaspeed Team.

Oh, it looks really nice!

Well since I paid a couple thousand for the extended warranty I didn't figure saving $200.00 gift certificate was worth risking it so I just had them do it.

As far as the difference it's all good.
You can hear the Turbo spooling now which is welcomed, Just an bit of BOV sound.
As far as performance goes I do notice an improvement, 1st gear is much smoother and doesn't suck near as bad as it used to. The jump from 1st-2nd is much smoother as a result.

And as far as soot I haven't cleaned my tailpipe since I got it so when I wash my car this weekend I'll let you know mid next week.

Can't ask for more than that. Thanks..............

I have been driving around for a week with my radio turned off just to hear the sound of air getting sucked in through the pipe.

I did that all day yesterday, I even drove with the windows down for a while.

Looks nice! I also heard that a silver intake on a silver MS3 makes it twice as fast. (thumb) Enjoy and be safe in those Georgia streets.

I think you have had one to many shots of "elderly coffee." (thumb) It was a joke. In other words my car Silver would be twice as fast as his Cosmic Blue MS3 i.e. Silver on Silver.... My advice to you is to drink very heavily (cool)

Vury nice... how far down is the filter? I'm debating on the CAI, just too much rain lately and don't want a straw pulling up water into the turbo.
Has anyone else had luck with a high-flow replacing the airbox?

I had my CAI installed for about 2 weeks now. My biggest concern before installing the CAI was driving in heavy rainfall. It just happened that driving back from the dealership after heaving the CAI installed it was raining sooo bad I could hardly see anything. When I got home, I popped the hood and surprise! the plastic cover under the engine was dry. Considering I drove briefly over 100 mph in that rain I think the CAI is safe in not sucking up any water.

How far down does the filter sit in the engine bay? I'm not worried about water just beneath the hood, but if the filter is down near the wheel well.... well... (freak)
