Pics wanted: before/after of door trim removal

I'd love to see before and after shots of door trim removal on Proteges. I'm probably going to take mine off in the spring, because I can see dirt/salt buildup behind them.

Here's what my car looks like now:

One question though...

Are there any clips or pins behind the trim pieces?

Nope, just stickers as far as I know. I wanted to do the same, but was affraid of ruining something since I have never really read about their removal.

It's pretty simple as long as you have some sort of adhesive remover...all I did was sprayed around the cracks of the door trim with adhesive remover and let it soak in for a few minutes, pulled the trim off completely and sprayed down the adhesive some more and removed the rest with my fingernails. It also works even better if it's a bit warmer outside so the adhesive is easier to work with.

Do you have any pics of your silver Protege before and after doing this? I'd really like to see them.

I plan on waiting until it's at least in the 60s outside to do this.

i dont have any befores but i can go take some pics of my car and post up if youd like....it wasnt that hard, just takes time, but your used to that.
i used goo gone gel, worked pretty nice plus you get a citrus smell! haha it came out really nice.

oh and L8R...i suggest you do it!

Yea it was just a lil time consuming, i blistered my fingers because even tho i sprayed s*** down i still used them to roll it off my doors, but it turned out great made a difference.

not a problem. I found that the adhesive reatced the best when the side working on is in the shade on a warm sunny day.(Did sides on different days)
Should remove the DX badge during the project. (thumb)

Use a hair dryer on the side molding to warm the glue and pull gently.

My car is 4 years old. If I do this, is the paint underneath going to be an obviously different shade? My P5 is the vivid yellow.

Vivid - that depends on how well your paint maintenance has been thus far. If the paint has never been waxed, then it's probably oxidized, and the paint beneath the trim strips (shielded from the sun) will be brighter and richer than the other paint. To fix this, all you need to do is apply a polish or paint cleaner to remove the oxidized paint.

If you want to wait 2 years, I'll be moving to Oregon and I'll do it. lol
