Hey all i just picked up a new digital camera for my 21st B-Day (July 9Th) .

I decided on the sony cyber shot dsc-v1 after countless hours of researching. I picked it up for 499 from best buy ( i know i could have got cheaper but i wanted it in my hands yesterday).

Here are a few pics of the camera itself (taken with my bad fuji fine pix 1.3 MP camera)

And here are some comparison pics between a 5.1 MP camera and a 1.3 MP camera.
All shots were shrunk down to 700X525 resolution.

First the bad fuji

I just wanted to share and to see what people think or know about this camera or cameras in general.

My competitiors were the cannon s500, sony dsc-w1, sony dsc-t1 and the sony dsc-p100.

Any one have experience with these cameras?

I just bought a sony as well. 5.0 megapixel.

i wanted something quality, small and was tons of features i bought it friday. 200 bucks plus 70 for a 128mb stick.

if you look at my local rice thread i took those shots from a moving car with the windows up.

is that the p93?

i was also looking at that one. A big thing for me about that one was the sony lens vs. the carl ziess. I wanted a higher quality lens because i plan on doing some real photography later on.

Do you like it?

dude i love it, it takes great light shots of high speed lighting (ie fireworks) i have left the usb in the car and its in the shop. ill pot em here. im very big on photography, im a big B&W fan but this camera was such a steal at 200 that i was okay with not having that feature because PS can do that.

nice camera

This be mine. Canon G5 5 megapixel.

I almost bought this one last year but thought it was clumsy and wanted a Canon lens anyways. And my battery can't be beat

Man i really like the G5. A bit pricey, but i would love to see some of your pics.

I remember some older ones of your speed and it was awesome. Care to post some more?

i bought a digital camera yesterday too. concord 4.0MP for $100 at office max. obviosly not a sony, but i thought the price was great and i won't have to buy film, develop, scan into the pc anymore. i'll post pics if i get a chance

Fuji Fine pix S5000

Here is the camera I bought back in February when me and the fam took a trip out to Cali:

I found this to be the best value at the time. I myself love the "what you see is what you get" viewing of a SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera, plus the features were kick-ass, like the price ($399). Taking a picture at 3.1 megapixels, and then saving it at 6 megapixels makes it soooo worth it! Here is a link with more info: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/fuji_s5000.html

I have the dsc-9. 4.0 mp, basically the same features as the dsc-10. 10 was not out when we bought this, but i love it. I think it was $500 or $600.

I actually have no nice shots of the car with the g5 yet. Been too busy. All my older pics are taken with a Canon G2 I "borrowed" from work. and I hadn't a clue how to use it at the time.

Hoping to get out on my vacation and take a few nice sunset shots and stuff.

those shots are actually really bad. Like REALLY bad. Sorry man. But, any new camera has a learning curve. Try playing with different flash types/ other settings in light like that.

Any scene lit entirely by an onboard flash will look like that.
don't have to be. It can be better. My camera has a few flash modes that will allow it to look a lot better.

The Sony is a good camera, not diss'n it or anything.

oh yeah i can adjust flash frequencies and what not, This was just taken with sony's automatic mode (stupid mode) in order to get a difference between the granular texture of a 1.3 MP vs a 5.0 MP .

I will be playing with this one a lot here when i get my car back.

I've had the P10 since Xmas & I love it. I've convinced several people to buy Sony's since getting mine & my aunt just bought the W1. I think you picked the best one...it's a really nice camera. (2thumbs)
