Anybody out thier have 205/55 P16's on a stock P5?
I really would like to know if there are any rubbing or handling issues. Also any pics would be great just to see the apperance of them.

I really want a set of Michelins I've had on other cars, and the 205/55 P16 is the closest I can get.

Thanks for any help.

55 series kind of look like big balloons. Since 50 series is factory, I would stick with that, will keep speedometer settings more normal. I had 205-50-16 Yokohamas for a while, then upgraded rim size to 17" with 40 series tires now.

I am running 205/55 Azenis and they do fine, even with lowering springs. I have only rubbed once and it was the rear drivers side when i had like 500lbs or more of stuff in the car. And it was only the plastic splash shield, no fender lip or strut rubbing. I went from 205/40/17's...those sucked big time. Liked to bend wheels and ride horribly.

I've got 205/55/16's. Goodyear Eagle RS-A. They came on it when I bought it used.

The only rubbing I get is when I turn the steering wheel all the way right in a parking lot. I think it rubs a little on a tie-rod or something. Might just be a bad alignment though...

205/55s mess up the speedo, decrease the already slug-like acceleration and make the ride too "bouncy". Don't do it.

Just bought some 205/55R16 tires. I was running 215/45ZR16, it was sporty, but HARSH!

I don't really care about acceleration (that's why I bought a motorcycle), but comfort is my need. It fits the car nice!

from a performance standpoint, its not going to make that much of a difference on a stock protege...the final drive will be a little taller, but if anything that could be great for a lot of daily drivers as rev's will be lower at high way speeds...this is all pretty marginal though...it will affect your speedo by a few mph, in the wrong direction (you'll be going a little faster than what its telling you...)...so remember that...

and personally...a 195/50 is the worst looking tire on a protege, adding the width and extra side wall bulge makes the car look far less 'delicate', at least imo...the stock pizza cutters look ridiculous...I run 205/50 16" winter tires on the stock wheels, but would easily take 205/55 winter tires if they were all that was available and the price was right...

and omg...this thread is 5 years old...
