Pics of 17" on MS3?

Hey guys,

Title says it all! If you're running 17's, could you post a pic? This would be for my summer set up so I want to see if there's excessive gap or if the car looks like it needs a drop.

Also, in your opinions, which would look better with the MS3's styling? A busier, "spokier" wheel like this (Rota Torque)

Or a simpler, cleaner wheel like this (Rota SDR)

Thanks for any help or insight! :)

Oh, if anyone is feeling ambitious, a chop of either of these on a Black Mica MS3 would be great!

I like the Torque, just not in a 17" for the MS3. Now if you lower it dramatically with coilovers it would probably look alright. Just don't do a 7 spoke wheel, I see them on every single car these days.

i was recently looking at those two wheels for the MS3, but i dont think i would want to drop to a 17, i think the cleaner SDR is the way to go for our cars.

Thanks for the speedy replies! I was afraid that a 17" would look goofy...

Well, the Torque does come in an 18". The SDR doesn't so my alternative would be the 18" P-1. Here it is in HyperBlack.

I prefer the look of the SDR, the way the spokes are flush where they meet the lip. But the P-1 is sharp too. Do you guys prefer the HyperBlack or the Steel Gray pictured above? (against black mica) The Torque does not come in HyperBlack.

I'm going for a shadowy, menacing look, but not completely blacked out.

ha, and that was also the third wheel i was looking at. i definitely prefer the hyperblack.

Well I haven't got the car yet... haven't even finalized a deal actually, and I'll be on vacation all next week. Besides that, Subydude isn't showing any stock of that particular wheel. I sent them a note asking about availability.

Long story short: no, I doubt I'll be getting them soon :p

haha, alright, do you know what kind of prices the wheels are. i didnt see any listed on the site.

Yeah, did you get a lil sticker shock? Rotas ain't cheap!

Did you read up at all on the group buy that was kinda sorta organized for this very wheel? It has a 56mm Subaru-sized hub bore that will not accomodate the Mazda's 67.1mm hub. For $100 extra, subydude can have the wheels machined to 67.1 bringing the total to $850 shipped. Wow

I had 17" SDRs on my Focus and paid $650 shipped, thru a group buy similar to the one on here -- a forum member shelled out for 20 wheels, then re-sold three sets on the boards. You and I and subydude would account for 3 of 4 buyers, so if we could get a fourth on board we could do our own custom order, but it would take months to see the wheels. :(

Rotas ain't cheap??? You can get 2 sets of Rotas for the price of one set of OZs, or 3 Rotas for every Rays Mazdaspeed wheel or worse yet 4 for every single Volk Racing.

yeah, i was looking at ultraleggeras which would run about 1300 plus shipping, so i was actually thinking that 850 would be a great price, sure there are cheaper wheels out there, but thats because they are cheaper wheels.

Ok ok, point taken (it's a good point too...) :p

Hey Relli, so you were thinking that the HB P1 would look best with the black mica? I'm really torn between P1 or Torque; and steel gray or HB (dunno)

i would probably go with the P-1 and i think HB, because steel gray would look similar to all the other alloys out there

lemme have a look at those....

here we are:

svn_mgray.jpg

as stated on the image, that's in the steel gray... looks like the only color available for the SVN

hmm, i've sen them in tommy gold, full royal sports bronze, matte gray and hyper black, but that was in suby fitment... what color do you want?

Rota Wheels are made in Philippines. I was gonna buy direct from factory when i went back last April but didnt get a chance. Good company I think, for less the moolahs u get a good and stylish set of rims. I'm going for dark menacing looks too but not all blacked out. I got black mica too. I'll decide what to get when i actually can afford to get it. I wont go heavier than 20lbs though. I see some wheels out there that are affordable and below 20lbs each. at tirerack.com I'm combing the magazines but the wheels there are too showy. I want the clean look that will be classic someday. Good choice on the wheels u should go for it. I was eyeing that Rota P1 before too.

mountjonas, I'm still decidin! I'm weighing between hyperblack and steel gray... the only reason i don't get HB right away is that i'm thinking since it's a glossy black, it might just blend with the black mica

but I've seen HB on subies and it seems like it can look grayish, or completely black... they usually look real sharp, but I just don't want a gloss black on gloss black look, ya know?
