Picking this MSP up soon(hopefully!) Please let me know if everything is in order...

Oh awesome, my girlfriends parents actually have a 626 they want to sell within the next few years.. maybe I could buy the engine from them should mine have any issues. :)

I think that looks like a nice MSP. Yes, the mileage is high so you're probably going to have some issues come up within a 4-year period, but it should last if driven and maintained properly. I don't really see any obvious red flags, and all the mods that have been done appear to be done properly. The bay, exterior and interior all look clean so it suggests the previous owner took pretty good care of it.

I say buy it if you really like it, but with that mileage I wouldn't pay more than $5,000 even with the mods. NADA values it at $4,300 dealer trade-in and $6,400 retail, so private seller is usually somewhere in between. I would definitely offer to help you inspect it, but you're clear on the other side of the state. Good luck though, whatever you decide to buy I hope you like it and feel free to ask any questions you may have :)

Oh and about the 626, make sure it's a 4-cyl if you plan on keeping it around for a spare engine.

Hey man, I really appreciate the help! and I'm actually buying it from a guy in Salem, haha. We're probably going to meet in Pendleton, since it's half way for both of us. I'll definitely give you a shout on the site if I have any questions, or if I need to buy anything I may hit you up as well. :)

PS: Love your display picture. MGS is the s***!

The guy was stuck on 6000, and I had to let it go. :/ What a shame. There is also a Silver MSP that has 140k but it has a branded title. Is that bad news?

You did the right thing buddy. 6k is ridiculous. I wouldnt pay more than 4k for that car. You don't have to settle, keep looking and a good one will pop up.

Thanks man. I'm also looking at a MSP that looks almost identical to yours, but he has it posted at 7k. Is it just me, or are people posting these cars really high??

Yea. My car has 69k. If someone offered me 7k, I would take it in a second.

Here is the ad for the protege I'm getting as of now, if anyone cares. :)

I have a charcoal 2003.5 MazdaSpeed Protege with black cloth interior, everything is electric with a key fob. There was only 2733 of these cars made. It has a Branded title. It's a 2.0t. with 140K. All the windows are tinted to about 25%, It has HIDs, the trunk is completely dyno matted, it has a clear bug shield on the front. it has an upgraded intercooler, AEM cold air intake, a HKS blow off valve, a boot gauge, after market intercooler piping, an after market boot controller. and last has a Split Second Air Fuel Controller. It has about 200hp

Theres missing the 03.5 front lip, the car has a boost controller so of course hes running over stock boost levels , honnestly I wouldnt pay more then 4k for this. You have to keep looking I bought mine with similar aftermarket parts 129,000km extremly clean for 4,800$ not one single problem , just had to change de timing belt and water pump but I drove 5 hours to go get it and it was really worth it! take your time!

The Titanium one doesn't look too bad but it's missing the front lip and color-matched grill, must've been wrecked and was improperly repaired with the 03 splitter and fogs.

It'll be tough to find a MSP with low mileage these days. You might want to budget in an engine swap if you're looking to keep the car for that many years.

My thoughts exactly, especially with the salvage title branding. 50-60% of retail is all that any bank will loan you for a prior salvage vehicle so you shouldn't pay more than that. $3200 - $3800 is your price range for the titanium one, which the seller is gonna hate cuz he's asking $7000 but that's the reality. Don't be a sucker and pay too much for it, cuz if you go to sell it down the road you will get NOTHING out of it and lose a couple thousand at least.
