I wouldn't pay the new cost of around $500+ or so if you include shipping but the $180 I got it for off of CL seemed quite reasonable.

Racing Beat is one of the premier builders of Mazda aftermarket performance parts. Everything they do is first class and their exhausts are known for their mellow sound. No "boy-racer" vibe whatsoever. You won't be disappointed and $180 is a helluva price.

I've got the original muffler (which I replaced with a R/B unit) from the wife's '06 Miata which I just can't bear to throw away. But there's absolutely no resale market for it all these years later!

the startup of a SkyActiv sounds like a 2-stroke outboard anyway :-)

Ha! Right on point.

I have this exhaust. Paid $440 delivered, so not near as great a deal as you got. The sound is probably as good as anyone could hope for with one of these engines; not too loud, not ricey, and not corked-up like the stocker. This is my wife's rig, and she likes the RB way better than stock. That said, it still doesn't sound as good as the V8s in our fleet (drive2)

I doubt there's any performance gain. That 2.2 HP is within run-to-run tolerance.

Good find on the Racing beat. I will be looking at getting one soon. I remember back in 2001 when Mazda came out with the protege MP3. It really transformed car.

Good find Kedis. I'm constantly on CL but no bites. Found oem bumpers and grilles though.
