I am pretty sure that the super whites are.
I just got a set of the extreme whites and I love them. They are so bright compared to the xenon bulbs I had before.
Instead of the PIAAs, I purchased Philips VisionPlus bulbs - I am very happy with the bulbs. You cannot purchase them in the US since they are brighter than the federal government allows.
I actually got the PIAA super plasma's (for the fogs) and i like them a lot. I got them because the one's i got off of ebay burnt out maybe 50 days after putting them in (one blew)...got into a nice email arguement with the seller. Two different warranty timelines (60 and 30, both on the same product page...beware of "HIDxenon" on ebay, bad stuff... (I know, shame on me for even thinking I could get good stuff for 20 bucks)
ANyway, they're rated at 5000k color and that was the highest k rating I could find...
they look good, not that bright, but they do the job. There is a slight blue look, but it doesn't bother me (but I am VERY picky about the color especially if it looks bogus/fake/cheezy for sheezy; thus like I said, I'm ok with it so it can't be that bad) as long as they don't blow out I'll be happy, its a pain in the ass to change those things every two months...
At this point, I'm debating getting the matching headlights...
I had gotten my hands on some Hyper Industry Super Plazma bulbs for the heads and fogs. I really didn't pay anything for them so I didn't care if I liked them or not.
But, my intention was to have matching blue heads/fogs. I thought it would be neat. But, when I put them in, the headlights are REALLY blue, but the fogs were basically still white. Much better then stock though. I blaimed the fogs on the fact that they are not clear glass. Therefore you couldn't see the blue as much. But, then I thought that maybe the bulbs were just crap ......but really, they aren't that bad. I can see a lot better now.
Anyhow, I had always planned to get some PIAA's. Now I got some money, I will. I'm still thinking about getting the Plazma blues for the fogs though. It just looks neat
I think they look good. The light that they do give off is much much whiter than the light from my heads which are "phillips Cool blue bulbs" which were barely a noticeable difference from stock other than brightness.
I guess what I need to find out is, does anyone have the super plasma's as headlights?
Or has anyone ever done a comparison between the super white and the plasma's?
I say forget all the drama, and go with real HID's. If you get those from the right place you will have a lifetime warranty even if the bulb blows out. It also covers the balasts. I have to wait because my funds were just depleted.
A friend of mine in To. Has some HID's for sale H4's. You don't have high beams though when you install these. He is selling them for $440 Cdn. He used them for one night and decided he needed a performance mod rather then a cosmetic one.
I buy the el cheapo Toucan blue lights ($25 Cdn)... they work, they are bright and clean and they last me for as long as any piaa has for my friends. I also have those in my fog lights.. so I am even tha tmuch brighter.... my friends hate me when I am behind them....
Well, I don't have PIAA Super Plazma's, but I got hyper super Plazma's. I just ordered some H4 Xtreme whites, I should have the Monday.
I thought I'd take some pics of the hypers now, and compare later. The camera I got SUCKS ASS, and throws the color off quite a bit. But, take a look at my photo's if you wanna see Super Plazma heads.
The whole reason I went out and spent the 70 bucks for the PIAA's is so that I'd know I had a quality product, and not have to worry about burning out...well, less than 2 weeks on the car, one's out...different side than the last one that burnt (non PIAA)...I'm attempting to go through autobarn.com, and if that doesn't work PIAA for replacement, but I'm just kind of pissed. Does anyone know of any reason that this might happen, and so early? (I did not touch the bulb, I know that much)
Once of these days everything will work right...one of these days
I had some 959's a few years ago that kept blowing out, I called Piaa & they sent me a free replacement bulb. You might want to check the connection point & tape up any point that could get moisture in it. That seems to be the main reason for my problems. If you added a hotter bulb the extra heat could shorten the life of the bulb also.
