Photochop "Rides" paint job

Hey, everyone

Not sure how many people caught it, but that "Rides" show on TLC did a show on a Lexus IS300 engine swap with a GS430...I loved the paint job on that car and was curious to see what it would look like on a P5. Comments?

PS: If these pics are of your car...sorry I stole them, but it's for a good cause!

they are think of actually coming out with that car now. Lexus will call it the Lexus IS430. it looks sick and is fast as hell. no price yet though.

Good job using Photoshop! That Rides show was great!

It wouldn't surprise me that Lexus would consider making the "IS430" as brands such as Cadillac (CTS V), BMW (M3), Acura (TSX A-spec), and Volvo (R's) are all catering to the buyer who wants 4-door practicality with performance handling etc.

Yeah, it looked awesome on the IS300, but it leans a little too far towards rice for my taste.

Well..........our car is not an IS300 and they started that color on their car. And we have a different color scheme that make us unique.

I've been tinkering with photoshop for a long time...it's not really something you could even write a tutorial for, you just need to practise and figure out what the tools do.

In this case, I just used the "polygon lasso" tool to select the part of the car I wanted black, then I DEselected the windows and parts that aren't supposed to change. Since I wanted to change the red to black, it was easy...just "desaturate" the selected part to remove the colour information, and adjust the levels on that bit until it looks like the black micah colour....voila!

The only other thing I can see working would be silver or white...adding colours again tends to look fake.

I think your Pro5 looks awesome like that!!! That look is apparently the new "IN" thing right now and up here in British Columbia, Canada a few tuned cars are sporting that same look!!! Thumbs up!!!

Rides is an awesome show..... so is Ride with Funkmaster Flex. After watching rides last night.. I wanted to paint my car like that, but now I have the feeling that many people will want to do the same thing. I'd rather do something original than copy someone elses work.

Good job on photshop. I think the P5 looks really good with the red and black but not as good as the Lexus.
That Rides show is really cool. It makes you appreciate how much effort it takes to do huge mods like that.
