PHASE1: speed5hornets build begins!!!

hmmm cause mine didnt....SON OF A STEALERSHIP!!! Well this is gonna be fun, trying to get that!

well the guy that was painting my parts wasnt aware that the parts from mazda came no-where near ready to paint. He thought that they would already be slighty scuffed, but not shiny like brand friggin' new out of the model shiny! So its taking him a bit longer than anticipated, the bumper needs a lil more sanding but hey said they should be back to me by wendesday ;) Now i just have to ask him to check and see if there were indeed a package of hardware that came with the lip, but when i asked him he said...no.

okay so dealership had no idea about the hardware...they had to call mazdaspeed and yep they forgot it! So they said i would have gotten them for free, but the lip is already being painted(base coat on, the guy is taking longer to paint them than he said, but hey! hes doing them for free so im not complaning) so it cant be returned. They would send me a new one WITH the hardware. But they cant do that so i had to pay $5.50!!!! what the crap, they forget it, and I HAVE to pay! How does that work. Anyway the hardware is on its way, the parts are about 2/3 done being painted, and the car goes in the shop tomorrow for the rust to be taken care of.

i took the silencer out of my cs exhaut cause it rattles due to the shotty one nut mounting. It sounds better at low rpms and is just plain louder at higher speeds...kinda nice but not really

I wish I could afford to have my car repainted. It has so many dings/nicks/dents/surface rust its even funny. You deffinatley need to post some pics once you get the car back from the shop with everything on it. Sounds like it is gonna look really nice.

YOur bumper should have been ready to paint minus some scuffing..they come pre-primed.
And the lip is pretty much ready as well...Just needs som scuffing and Urethane pre-prep or adhesion promotion.
But yeah...Painting takes some time...well the prep does.

Hope it all turns out well.

okay so camera crapped out on me for the rust-b-gone pics, but the paint was matched almost perfectly so im happy.

As for my body parts...not so much. My buddy that was painting them got them done last sunday! HOWEVER this is how the conversation went...

him: "hey i got it all painted up but theres a problem:
me: ".......oh crap:
him: "yeah, its kinda orange....actually like traffic cone orange"
me: "well thats not right"
Him: "the paint shop accidently mixed it wrong, so i gotta strip it down and re-paint it with the new correct paint"
me: "...awesome"
him: "by the way how much did you pay for that bumper"
me: "240(i cant remember, dealer price)"
him: "haha that sucks, Rock Auto, where i get all my stuff from has it for sale for $67.99 with free shipping"
me: "...............SON OF A b****!"
him: "HAHAHA that sucks, ill finish those up for ya soon"
END

so thats whats up with my msp bumper/lip/eyelids from corksport

as for performance build, that changed a bit too
I now got my turbo with 5,000 miles on it back from Modern Performance (MPNick) and OMG! They did an awesome job, truly a work of art. Thing looks brand new! He even cleaned and resurfaced the stock s-pipe that i just left on the turbo when i sent it to him, also all studs replaced where s-pipe bolts to wg. So im really happy about that. I then put on my ATP wga on ;)

im having pg make me a custom fmic for my build,
and i also splurged for the corksport downpipe for a little extra ponies. I really wanted my body to be done before i take it to pg for the engine to be built due half or probably even more of the clips on the bumper are broken and etc; and i did not want pg to deal with trying to get it off let alone back on if it even could, but i dont know how much longer i can wait. If i have to ill just be like those hondas out there that throw turbos on and cruise around w/o a bumper for a while so my nice new FMIC can get nailed with rocks and miscelanious debris.

(wow that was alot to type)

Just checked out the Rock Auto site...He's looking at a standard sedan bumper cover...not the MSP/P5 bumper or the 2003.5 lip...

Is he talking about the MSP lip for $67 with free shipping? Can you get me a phone number please?

You might want to budget for fixing the oil pressure. I have been reading up from Doc B thread about it, and that would explain why some of these motors have been dying. Can not wait to hear more and see some pics.
