I tried searching around for info but I don't have enough time and didn't find the info I was looking for. Anyway I have a few questions...

1)Anyone install it yet? If so what do you think, etc...

2)does it take the standard size msp knob?

3)pics?

Well I was looking at either the kartboy or this one. I just like the fact the perrin is adjustable because I'm a picky bastard.

I've driven the Perrin in a WRX and it wasn't very good. The throws were a little shorter, but it was notchy (in a bad way), and somehow made shifting a little inprecise. Like I said, this was in a WRX, I have no idea about a Protege.

I personally don't like adjustability in a shifter since that means there are parts that can get loose or sloppy. Just get a good ol' fashioned Kartboy or B&M.

I was thinking about that (the adjustability) getting loose or having a possibility of breaking. I'm curious to see reviews though...

the more moving parts..the more likely something will come loose. if it's available on **********..it doesn't mean perrin has them in stock or has manufactured any. And then you end up waiting 3 months for them to make one for you. get a B&M ;) not that i'm biased or anything LOL

The Perrin Short Shifter is available and it is in stock here. I don't make customers wait 3 months, be careful not to get SU confused with other vendors.

I do not have one installed here yet. Adam from Perrin said speciffically that the short shifter is awesome and that once they get on a few cars, the MSP market will love them.

The adjustable mechanism uses 3 set screw for security. Though we DO NOT have a problem with any of our Short shifters becoming loose you can use lock tight for security. As far as breaking..Impossible!. The PERRIN short shifter is made completely of hardened 1144 steel with a black oxide coating insuring long-term reliability.
The hardened steel design will prevent shift rod distortion prone to aluminum shift rods and make the part indestruciable.

The Subaru WRX Short shifter is different It is a shifter adaptor. The reason that the shifter felt imprecise when compared to the Mazdaspeed, or any other car for that matter, is in the stock WRX shifter design. The shifter itself is actually made of 2 pieces isolated by rubber. The shifter actually has a bit of give or squish every time you put it into gear. Makes it feel kind of funny.

The short shifter is available now and will be prominently displayed on our all-new web site in the weeks ahead.

We will have it in this weekend...

but that means absolutely nothing if you're not an Authorized Vendor!
