Perrin exhaust vs. Vibrant exhaust

I just wanted to ask around which people prefer between the Perrin exhaust and the Vibrant exhaust. I bought a 2003.5 MSP #844 bout a month ago and I've juss been lookin around at parts and I found these two exhaust systems and I'm havin trouble deciding which one i want. I also wanted to ask if anyone has seen the OBX turbo manifolds and if they know if they r worth even looking at or if they r just a POS. Thanks for any info.

I love my Vibrant, but I have to be honest about my experience with their warranty service... extremely slow. They're good guys and they mean well, but are obviously overextended. I've been dealing with what now appears to be a failed resonator or muffler for over four months, and I'm still waiting for resolution.

i own the vibrant. i couldn't be happier.

i was in your shoe's once, i was debating on perrin and vibrant. purchased the vibrant and it sounds incredible. not to mention the power gain. im not dissappointed.

imo, perrin sounds like crap. the vibrant replaces the j pipe whilst the perrin does not. the vibrant sounds incredible plus yields more gians. vibrant ftw

Well thanks guys. I was actually leaning towards the Perrin, but if u say it sounds a lot better than I'll take ur word for it.. Thanks for everythin.

Im Gettin The Vibrant Cuz I Can Get The Turbo Back For About 900 Brand New. But Yea It Does Sound Better Than The Perrin.

Mine sounded great until something blew out. Now my wife can hear me coming from almost a mile away if she's outside. I don't want to steer you away from it b/c I think I'm one of only two people that have had a noise problem down the road, but I didn't want to you be uninformed either. If you go Vibrant, tell your vendor (or Vibrant) that you expect to be taken care of if you indeed run into trouble. Even with the headaches, I'd still buy one again. Oh, and don't even think about installing it before PM'ing me or JDM Sam about how to route the O2 wires and which s-pipe bolt solution works. We can save you a lot of trouble on that.

*edit* Mine was considerably less than $900 through JDM Sam. Check with him on the current price.

i had the Perrin for about 2 years and have Vibrant now. They are both great exhaust imo. both beautifully constructed with high quality material. Bare in mind they are two very different exhaust.

The Perrin is much more race oriented. Its less restrictive as it's a 3" straight thru w/ no cats, no resonators, and a straight thru canister muffler. As you can imagine its loud as sh*t. i got 2 noise violations tickets w/ this exhaust even w/ an ultra quiet resonator i had welded on (hence me rockin a vibrant now)

The Vibrant is more street oriented. They start off 2.5" and then gradually flare to 3" by the mid-pipe. It also has 1 cat, 1 resonator, and n1 style muffler which all make it much easier on the ears. it is more quiet than the Perrin, especially on the highway where the Perrin tends to drone, but its still loud.

I honestly thought the Perrin sounded better, others may disagree. The Perrin sounded so damn mean and agressive. It would gurgle, pop, and shoot fireballs at will. it was a lot of fun, but i couldn't afford any more tickets and my ears couldn't take anymore of the droning on the long trips.

The Vibrant although sounds nice, won't be distinguished from the sea of other exhausts that sound similar. It's very tamed which can be a good or bad thing depending on what your looking for.

I have the Perrin and I concur with all these statements.

Sounds so much better thank any other import around here, the Perrin has a nice deep tone.(ricer)

But like kicker said, it's loud!, and it drones. I may go deaf just driving.

Oh, and I love shooting fireballs.

haha fireballs are awesome. I have the perrin exhaust. I only dislike 2 things about it the highway drone and no j-pipe. the price for a new perrin is like 6-700 now and you can get a jpipe made. if you buy a vibrant you will always have a restriction. I dont know how a vibrant can have more gain than a perrin either.

oh and to add to your curiousty, the OBX mani is pretty much crap, and won't work with the stock turbo either (different flange).

Haha thanks for the comments... the fireballs sound pretty good right now... I was going for the vibrant but now i'm not sure anymore...I still have time before I can even get either one, but idk thanks for everything.

Later,
don't let fireballs fool you man. its all about performance. the vibrant has a nice backfire, not a fireball, but a nice gargle and pops.

whats the point of shooting a flame and get pwned during a race? i don't see the point.

I juss think its funny how some cars shoot fireballs... I am gung ho for performance but idk which actaully performs better thus one of the reason for this thread.
Thanks

if is down to performance Perrin is the one you want. No cats + no res + full 3" = least restrictive Exhaust for the MSP. its that simple, you can ask any turbo gear head.

Sure Vibrant has a J, a whole half of foot of exhaust which is a maybe 1/4-1/2 inches bigger than stock? that won't overcome the restriction and turbulence created by the cat & res.

If you really want that j-pipe jus get the whole cork sport downpipe like i did. hell i still have the J-pipe from the corksport i don't even use i'll sell to you for 20 bucks plus shipping if you want it that bad.

either way you can't go wrong. both perform and sound good. probably similarly enough under typically levels of boost (7-10psi) that you won't feel the difference.

One will also allow you to pass emissions. Now that my Vibrant is louder than it used to be, I can tell you that I can't get this f-in thing fixed fast enough. 95% of the time I'm hating the louder noise. You gotta really stop and think about putting what amounts to a race exhaust on a street car unless you're a glutton for punishment.

He's very right. While I love my car and her exhaust, she's not my daily driver. I've got a company vehicle for daily use, I bring out the MSP when I just want to have fun. Alway's getting in the car knowing that I'm getting into a car that is obscenely loud.

I haven't heard either exhaust but if I needed to choose one than I would buy the vibrant because it includes a better j-pipe.

yet I must say,

GHL full downpipe w/highflow cat ftw(alright)
