Performance Chips for MP3????

I heard that Mazda uses closed loop circuit in their ECU, and therefore, it's impossible (or almost) to make a performance chip for mazda's. Is this true for all mazda's, is this true for the MP3?

... I'm confused and rather upset about this

You're correct in thinking the MP3 is not chippable. To date, there aren't any chips on the market and probably won't be any anytime soon.

all these people on this site cant get this out of their minds.....

we CAN chip our cars... we CAN use a S-AFC.... the only chip that is worth wile on the market is Unichip.... the problem is finding someone who can tune it for you....

We will have a performance chip available in approx 3 weeks for the Protege. We are doing this as part of our turbo kit build, but we will also have the chip for the naturally aspirated models as well. I will post more information when the chip is nearer to completion.

Excuse me while I pull my foot out of my mouth. I may have spoken a bit too soon. Thank god we have M2 browsing the boards. I curious to see what gains it'll get.

did it taste good? hope you washed it before you stuck it in there....lol :{D

Jet says that they now have an 'upgrade' programming package for the Protoge. You send it off to them and they reprogram it and send it back. I've not heard a lot of good about them but it is out there if someone wants to try it.

Ewww....not too crazy either of the idea of taking the chip out and mailing it off somewhere and then having it mailed back...seems like a pretty lengthy time to go without my car.

You buy the upgrade from a vendor, they send you an overnight pack with instructions on how to remove and package your ECU. Then you send it overnight to Jet with the paperwork including the form where you list all the mods to the car and they reprogram it and turn it around in 24 hours. Then they overnight it back to you. If you send it off on a Monday, you should have it back by that Thursday or so they say. Problem is, I haven't heard anything good about it. Keep in mind that they will reprogram YOUR ECU so they had better be doing a good job. From what I've read on the net and heard about from other people using JET products, it's probably not a good idea.
