Pearl White

Hi everyone

I have never had any experiences owning a white car. Are they harder to keep clean? Do they show dirt and dings and small scratches more readily?
Any other info on the mazda 5 in white would be welcome.

IMO, exact opposite of everything you've said. They're easy to keep clean and looking sharp. If you're within 5 feet of the car, then yeah, it's easy to see if it's dirty, but otherwise they'll never really look that bad. Black or dark colors can be beautiful and highly rewarding to own, if you're willing to take care of them. Especially black will lose its showroom glow pretty quickly if you don't take care of it. Color is completely subjective, though, and everyone has their preferences. Some people like me think white is really sporty, others think it's boring and has no personality. Keep in mind, Mazda does charge about $200 extra for the Whitewater Pearl.

Thanks for the link to photos. Its funny, when we got home today after test driving a white 5, we remembered your original post, with the photos, and viewed them.
We had higher hopes that we would like the grey mica, but saw and didnt really like it that much in person,
and dealing with a black on black acura tl, it takes half my life keeping it aglow. LOL
However, my wife still likes that stellar green.

White is awesome to clean... You normally don't even need to wax it often, but you should.. It will glow..

Yeah, my wife voted against the grey and we ended up with the whitewater pearl.

After a year of ownership, I have to say that it has been pretty easy to keep the car clean, and we liked it a lot better than I thought we would. I'm normally a fan of silver, but the whitewater is just as nice.

I will let you know that the rear hatch tends to get dirty first. I believe it's an effect of the car's aerodynamics. I noticed that the rear hatch is always dirty after driving in the rain.

It is not hard to keep clean. And, if you buy a sport, the black mirrors and other trim pieces look fine compared to the way it looks on the other colors.

...totally agree, along with the rear bumper.

Also, silver's equal, if not better at hiding the dirt than white.

Was getting a white one, but instead got the silver so it will hide the dirt more, also my wife's car is white and i didn't want 2 white cars in the house. But i love the white ones too! zoomzoom(cool)

My last car was white and it was really low maintenance. People constantly asked me how often I wash my car even though I never washed it! Scratches hide really well on white cars. My charcoal gray Mazda5 is the complete opposite, it gets dirty as soon as I drive it out of the garage and you can spot scratches from a mile away. I've also had a silver WRX and that was pretty low maintenance too.

I have a Pearl White GT model in Toronto, Canada. I can say this is the first white color'ed car I've owned and boy does it get dirty fast. I guess depending on where you live, we're starting to get snow and for some reason only the back of the car get's really really dirty, back windshield and all. Like someone said on another thread I think it is the aerodynamics of it that causes the back to become quite dirty. I try to wash my car at least once a week - sunday afternoon ritual or every second week.....

I also haven't experienced any frozen latches yet...keep you all posted.

The back of the car on any wagon or hatchback will get dirty really fast. Mine on my P5 is nasty right now after driving a thousand miles this weekend.

Whitewater pearl is a beautiful color by the way. Wow it makes me want to trade my P5 for a Mazda5 it's so good.
