passenger side mirror fell off

I just noticed that my side mirror fell off. Not the whole thing - just the mirror. I'm thinking it might have been pried off by someone. But maybe it fell off and I just didn't notice for a day. Are they expensive? I just bought the car 2 months ago, would that be covered under warranty? I'm going to tell Mazda that it fell off - they can't prove it was stolen or anything....I just don't know what happened to it. Any thoughts?

if the housing is still on the car and in good condition with absolutely no damage, just say it fell off when you were driving. one minute it was tehre cause you just checked your mirror to change lanes, the next time you go to look, the bastard was gone. they're bound to fix it since there's no obvious sign of abuse.

Absolutely no sign of damage. I looked for screwdriver marks and there is nothing. So it could have fallen off. I thought I might have noticed it falling off while driving but maybe not. Why would anyone want to steal it! And can you buy just the mirror or do you need a whole new assembly? Lets hope its covered under warranty. I just got my car back from the bodyshop ( I was rearended) - maybe it fell off there!

i had a gti and the same thing happened on some aftermarket m3 mirrors, I think that the adhesive can get dry and 1 to many bumps just jiggles it loose, I went to a glass cutting place around my way, and the guy traced the plastic mirror holder and cut a mirror for me that fit perfect, he used some industrial bonding tuff, and it was like new...

The mirror holder is gone as well. It's just the assembly that's there. I can make the backside move with the controls ..There's just a white plate where the mirror plus frame sat in. It looks like it was glued in but came off or someone pried it off. I'm telling Mazda it came off while driving.

The plate holding the mirror is a ball and socket. I had one that took a shock from neighbor kids on bikes and the mirror plate just popped out and fell on the ground. No sign on the housing that it had even been hit. The bad part is they do not just sell the mirror. I think you must buy the whole assembly. Around a$100 I think.

Well, if it just fell off it should be covered shouldn't it? I've only had the car for 2 months.

Often in places like NYC, people pop the mirror glass off cars for fun. I had it happen to my Maxima. In that case, the dealer actually had replacement mirror glass with the backing. It was about $30 and snapped into place.

Maybe it is the same for the P5 mirror glass.
