passenger-side distortion in 2005 Bose system

I just bought an SP23 hatchback, which has the Bose system. There is distortion from the front and rear passenger-side speakers that is most noticeable when listening to someone talking. It's the type of fuzzy sound you'd get if the speakers were blown. I removed the front door trim panel, and the distortion is still there, so it's not the trim panel rattling.

From what I've read so far, it sounds like it's not uncommon for those speakers to go bad, but with it being both speakers on one channel, I can't rule out the amp or head unit. I'm looking to spend as little to fix this as possible. What should I try next?

I figured out a way to test things and thought I'd post here in case someone else is as slow to figure out troubleshooting for this as I was.

I took the door trim off of both front doors and hooked the driver side speaker up on the passenger side. It still sounded fine over there, so it's pretty clear that the passenger side speakers are blown.
