This may belong in the Electronics forum, but it's definitely not car audio and I think it'll get more visibility here in the Lounge.
When I travel to/from autocrosses, I buckle my helmet into the passenger seat. Its weight causes the airbag to be deactivated and the indicator light comes on by the cigarette lighter. Normally, after I remove the helmet the light goes out. Lately though it's been freaking out a little. The light stays on for several minutes with an empty seat, and more alarming, sometimes stays on for several minutes with a passenger in the seat. Occasionally it will come on for no apparent reason while cruising down the freeway, then go off again later.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does the light going on and off necessarily mean the airbag is actually deactivating? I'm considering a trip to the dealer but I hardwired a Sirius radio into my ash tray area and I suspect that if they see that, they'll just tell me I messed up the system myself. (FWIW the radio has been installed for months and the airbag light has only been acting up over the last week or so.)
