I think I may have an issue with my 5...There is a thin black fuzzy/felt material that runs along the bottom of the windshield...This strip of material is held into place between the dashboard ad the glass itself with an adhesive backing...I'm guessing our regular 100 plus degree temps around here are to blame...
The adhesive has become gummy with the heat, and the piece began coming out on both ends of the dash...I just noticed it this morning when I got in the car to take my wife to work...So basically, I had this strip of material just laying on the dash itself...After trying just about every spatula device I could get a hold of to try and re-seat it, I gave up...The glue just wasn't holding, and it would begin to come out under normal driving vibration...So I tore the whole thing out...
Does anyone know how crucial this part is to the windshield??? I know that a windshield is sealed with a silicone glue and rubber weather stripping, so what function does this part perform??? I ran my car through the car wash afterward to ensure everything is still water tight (which of course it was just fine)...I saved the strip of material in case it's something I need to get to the dealership and replaced...Any info on this would be greatly appreciated....
Thanks!!!
