Park/Fog only on = HOW TO.

hey guys, first post from a new guy. riding around ive seen mp5's with their orange park lights and their fogs on only. like most i would imagine, i can only run my fogs when my headlaps are on. how do i get around this cause i love the look of the ladder. intimidating as hell.

Actually, the link in post #2 would be more applicable to the OP since his car probably doesn't have the canadian drl action being that his location = Atlanta.
 
six in one half a dozen in the other. The link I posted allows me to run with no lights, just park lights, park and fogs, all lights and if i turn on my hi beams my fogs now stay on.
 
Guess my point was that your way ***** with about 6 or half a dozen wires to accomplish it & the other way ***** with 1 & the OP is in US so he need not work around the DRL module. The only thing you gain is fog on with brights. Can't see fogs when dims are on much less brights so microgain I suppose. Jack with 6 or half a dozen if you care about fogs on with brights or as most people considering doing this care about, jack with 1 & have fogs on with parking lights only.
 
Here, let's clarify these procedures......Do the 1 wire thing to have fogs with parking lights but not with brights. Do the multiwire thing to have fogs on no matter what else is on. Just depends on how you want them to work and/or how much hacking your wiring you want to do. Either is gooderer.lol
 
Fellas, if you do the fogs-on-with-brights, be aware that in a P5 you will have 6 forward-facing lights on simultaneously, which I have read is illegal in some places. I believe the post said that the limit is 4. Look it up, it's in one of the threads about doing the mod. I'm guessing that's why the fogs turn off when you use the brights.

Edit: I know someone might ask, so I'll explain: This only applies to the P5 because it has separate bulbs for the high-beams. Sedans only have 1 bulb that does high and low beams, so you should be ok doing this on a sedan even if this "no-more-than-4-lights-on" rule is true.

I would be more concerned about burning wiring or headlight housing or taxing the alternator before worrying about a ticket with all 6 going at same time. IIRC, driving with just parking & fogs is also a nono in some places too.
 
yup the fog light mod is great stuff...
too bad i don't have any fog lights... there actually illegal in hawaii
i never get the cute car remark.... but mine is all riced out

EDIT: i swore when i tun on my high beams i only have the HB light on...fogs turn of and so forth.....and about fogs being illegal to run during the day....then what are DTRL??

yup fogs turn off when high beams are on unless your holding the high beams before it clicks
 
id give up my fogs to live in hawaii, haha, my girls from hawaii though, hoping to get over there soon.
 
American version Protege5's foglights turn off when high beams are turned on


Also, when high beams are turned on, low beams also turn on

So, if you have HID low beams and they are off, but you flash your brights, you're also flickering your HID Low Beams
