Pandora in Canada

After buying a cx5 back in August of last year (it's a 2014 CX-5 GS) I am quite annoyed that I have a built in Pandora app on the infotainment system and not able to use it. Since Canada hasn't seemed to have adopted the idea of Pandora radio does anyone have a suggestion for this app that is not built into the car? Can it be used with any other radio application?

Another issue I seem to have is that the car seems to not recognize my iPhone 5s when connected with the USB. It just reads "iPod Error".

I got Pandora working in my car, but i don't think its allowed to be discussed here. I also find it weird that HD radio also isnt avalivble in Ontario.

Rdio is an alternative you can use which works with bluetooth

Odd, I have a couple of HD radio stations in Ottawa.

My iPhone 4S worked fine in iPod mode when connected via USB. But when I upgraded to a 5S I get the same "iPod Error" message that you are getting, hopefully this will get fixed in a future iOS version update.

I have found that if I start vehicle up while in Airplane Mode & connected to USB I consistently don't have any issue with USB connectivity. I can then turn off Airplane Mode once connection is made.

Canadian radio stations have not adopted the HD radio standard on a wide-scale basis as of yet. (There are discussions about implementing it and a few test stations.) There were DAB format digital stations in the past, but that never took off as the US did not adopt that technology.

I'm in Ottawa too. What stations are you getting to work? I clearly don't have much luck with this.

Try to tune in the FM stations 91.5, 106.1, 106.9, or 89.9 then hit the HD button. You may/not note any improvement in sound, but you will see additional text information displayed on the screen. There may be other stations, but this is what I listen to.

Pandora works in Canada if you have Android 4.4.x, Xposed and the Pandora Patcher module for Xposed which adds a few options that imho should already be part of Pandora. You need a Pandora account but it will work. Beyond the scope of this forum to describe more.
