Painting the Valve Cover

Hey guys..

I just thought of doing this as a 1st mod just to see if the colour/paint would match before i go ahead with something big and visible. I wanted to get this done in the future, to see if it's really possible to get the near perfect match quality with flakes and sparkles.

Has anyone painted their Valve Cover by a professional body/paint shop? If so, what's a good price to pay to get it done and could you post some pictures of it?

Thanks :)

P.s - if you have it professionally done or home painted, post the pictures anyway.

derrick..
Yours looks good. Did you do it yourself or have it done?
I don't see any metallic sparkles in your valve cover though....
did you have to remove the 'Mp3' emblem before you painted it? or can you simply just mask it off with masking tape?

i did it myself, and i just masked off the badge on there...it is the same paint as the exterior, but it could have standed a few more coats of clear.

u want a smooth finish with an arrage of colors to choice from??? Here is the secret for painting valve covers, brake calipers even the top halves of wastegates. Go to your local hobby shop pick up a can of Testors model spray paint in whatever color you want and your good to go won't bake off and dries to a ultra smooth coat.

derrick your cover looks just mint, i wonder if an orange cover would detract or add to the engine compartment of the MSP(of course it would have to be the exact same colour, flake, etc.).

That was pretty much what you were thinking wasn't it Limited? I'm getting some touch up paint from Mazda soon, maybe i could bring that in for a wet sample (might be easier to match) to a body shop. If you decide or do paint the cover Limited, tell me how it goes.
