Painting stock headers

what happens when you paint the stock headers... will it lose power or something like that.....or will that cause the headers to rot on the inside.... does anyone know what could happen.... if you have the answer or if you have evan a theory on what could happen... please post it....

Nothing will happen if you paint you stock headers. Your headers will be a different color and......that's about it. Make sure you use high temp paint of course.

Your manifold will be the color you painted it for about 2 days and then the paint will burn off. The manifold gets hotter than the 700 degrees that most high temp paint is rated for. If you want to make it a different color, take it to a powdercoating shop or send it to Jet Hot and get it silver ceramic coated.

they sell high temp paint that goes over 1500 or 2000 degrees at autozone.... but if i can find some aftermarket headers i rather buy those than to go through all the trouble to paint them. Do they have any aftermarket headers for us???

Trust me, it wont work. If it does work, it wont look good. If it sounds to good to be true, it is. The paint will constantly get hot, then cold, with all that expanding, the paint will crack and chip away.

why the hell would you paint it? you shouldnt run the car with out the heat shield in place which hides the header anyways. Just don't do it ok! It will look bad. Some parts just arent supposed to be painted if you paint every thing your car will end up looking like a mexican tour bus.
