Painting front lip ....?

i was thinking about painting the front lip on my stock bumper as shown below:

i have searched multiple forums trying to find how to's and discussions on an Ms3 but found nothing that really helped.

i was wondering if anyone else has done this and how it is holding up through the weather,pebbles, etc..also what the process you used was.

i just don't want to go ahead and do it and regret it

i taped it off and used actual paint, had it that way for over a year now it still looks ok could probably be gone over again
