painting calipers

I did mine black at first just to get rid of the rust. Then I thought it needed a touch of color. The red on silver works great as a theme that continues into the engine bay.

HAHAHA, Tasty you sir have a good eye. I have been saying for a while that I think that is at least one of the ugliest cars ever.

i painted mine red and the rotor hubs black. i cleaned off everything with a dremel wire brush attachment and then put down two coats of engine primer followed by 3 coats of hi-temp paint. i actually sprayed the paint into a cup and then brushed it on with a soft paintbrush.

I brushed mine on too, didn't want to take the time to mask off my whole wheel well. Went on well, took a while to scrub the calipers down clean, but two coats was thick and has worked well so far.

I brushed mine on black, looks good and your right black is less noticeable, not much brake dust shows either.

I brushed mine with a foam brush. Just sprayed into a cup and went from there. Two coats of high heat as a primer and then two coats of rustoleum to match the red on the car.

I say silver for the calipers.

silver is clean. pic is of my boyfriend's silver rx8 with silver calipers/rotor hubs.

I've always thought silver cars look good with gold calipers, especially behind black wheels
got some pics of that?? (wink) :D

i have decided to do silver because i want the wheel (especialy while driving) to look clean but i don't want to do flashy (maybe after i boost that will change).
but i believe that will tidy things up. thanks all for your votes

Paint them to blend in, not to stand out. Black black black.

I need to take a pic of my set up. I have black rear calipers and black wilwood front calipers on slotted rotors, looks really clean.

See...to me that is too much red. Not to mention the fact the brake pad was painted as well (spray method?). That is why I went with red/black combo. It's more subtle.

Paint any color you want. It'll be better than flaking metallic rust that's for sure.

i agree. since the spokes on rims are getting thinner and thinner, it just makes the whole package look better if you paint in there

all done i went with silver for the caliper and black for the brackets i will post pics tomorrow

Copper sounds interesting. It seems a matter of taste since there's no "proper" color for calipers (aside from rust and dust).

Whatever compliments your overall color scheme would be great. I'd like to do a copper, but then I've got this &^#@ chrome trim on a black car, and in my mind, there would be too many trim and highlight colors.
