Does anyone have some good suggestions on how to go about painting a urethane front lip. I Assume people have painted the DG and MS lips before to match their cars color. How'd you do it? I know the best would be to have a shop do it but is there anyother way? Can I get a large rattle can and paint the lip I have (an Accord TypeR lip)? I know I need to use at least flexible primer, is there a rattle can for touching up a bumper that I could get some where? Any idea would help, thanks.
as your primer for flexible parts, all you need is (Adhesive Promoter), and the paint color of your car.
I've got some PERFECT results with rattle can jobs, but it really comes down to what the part is worth to you, and how much time your willing to put in.
This was the bottom door pieces from my Audi A4 I did.
Before shot is when I was done painting the parts, even with gloss paint, it was still dull and orange peeled.
with a can of 3m glazing polish...I came up with the after picture
I also DIY painted my Oettinger rear and side skirts, and my Vizage front lip. lighting was a little intense on the middle of the car, and maybe my exposure too lol...I just wish the lip kit for these audi's would actually replace the stock parts, instead the lip kit slides over the stock parts which causes the lip kit to not look flush
BUT.........downfall would be the rattle can paint job wouldnt be as strong/durable as a real paint job from a body shop.
your rattle canning a front lip, so you gotta be extra careful with scraping out of driveways and dips.
