REVISED EDITION!!!
Threw this up on the other forum. Thought yall might like it too.
Real easy. I didnt even tape off the tires because i was changing them. I used Duricolor flat black, and red and grey scotch pads for the sanding.
Wash your rims!
Dont loose your mind over the little stuff here. There is going to be stuff that just wont come off, sanding will take care of most of that.
Nice and clean and ready for some sanding! You can see the spots that didnt come clean. Sanding will for the most part take that off.
Weapons of choice....
Sand em down, but remember that you are just scuffing the existing paint job, not going to bear metal. Once your there, primer!
Yeah i oversprayed. My tire is coming off. Playing cards or index cards stuck around the rim will keep your tires from getting sprayed. When that is dry sand the primer down with the less coarse pad. Wash again and its time to paint.
The key thing when rattle canning is that you want an even spray. All the paint should pool together on the surface. If the coats are to light it will make a coarse finish, but there is fine line between even and runs. It takes some time to get right, but if you get runs dont fret! Sand er down and go again!
The fuel door is no different! Same process. Looks hot to me. This process works really well because of the flat black paint, if you are going with a gloss, you should wet sand between coats finishing with a 600 grit or higher. I like to use rubbing compound before a spray clear to take out any orange peel.
The rims are dirty, not unevenly sprayed.
This fool is running a Honda 2000.
Now that you are done, enjoy the props, the glory, and the insane amount of women.
*notice- painted rims may not bring glory, props, or women, void where prohibited.
