Paint the grill and emblem or just the grill?

kyle, did you paint the rear emblem as well?

no, he didnt. we got stressed for time, so we ended up only painting the grill and front emblem.

kyle inspired me to paint my grill. ended up doing it with a slightly different color then kyle's.

still havent gotten around to it, when i was doing the front i kept saying... I NEED TO DO THEM, but got lazy and never got around to taking them off to do them since it took so long to do the demon eyes that day. I'll need to do them soon, not sure if i want to make it say "speed3" and also put the Axela badge on there, or strip it and leave the emblem only.

pick a day. i'll help u do it up. i say, put on the axela... and if u get bored, you can always remove it. i'm bored of mines and imma debage the whole thing except for the "M" logo. also i think i'm ready to remove my sills soon. running out of free mods to do. haha.

i once saw a speed3 replace mazdaspeed 3 to mazda 3.

So can you remove that grille piece to paint it or did you just tape it off very carefully? Looks awesome by the way

I may do this next weekend. I also debadged the hatch, and I'm planning on doing the "evil M" with the emblems and painting them black.

you have to remove the front bumper, then remove the plastic piece behind the grill (which is attached by 10 screws and 3 snap on clips) and mask off accordingly with the color of your choice. :)

Did you prime it or sand or anything?

i sanded it with 1000 grit sand paper. jst enough to rough it up alil. and used automotive primer. (2 to 3 light coats, let dry between coats) and 3 to 4 additional coats of your color of choice.

CWP, going with an almost flat black for the grill and I'll probably do a semi-gloss/gloss on the emblems...

As far as sanding/priming, we had the bumper off to do the demon eyes, but the middle of the bumper where the emblem clips into its help on by a few screws and some snap clips that comes right out and i used some light grit sand paper and scuffed it a bit then taped off the sides and used newspaper to cover the rest of the bumper so no overspray got onto it. it would be MUCH easier if the damn grill could be removed all together instead of having to tape it off! Primer was used but enough to cover the paint, its a simple paint job, and it dried fast in the sun.

i posted a pic of a cwp on the first page with black emblem/grill, it was the first time i had ever seen someone do it and really made me want to do it. check it out so you can see if you like what it looks like on cwp.

I wanted to do the batman, but in the "chop suey!" thread you can see how when you cut the bottom of the "M" it looks jagged and is raised so it doesnt look as nice so i decided not to do it.

lol yah, i figure i can dremel (i cant fCKin spell) it then maybe take some hardcore sand paper to it and see if it will smooth out.

I'm such a tease :D

Did it last night, I didn't tape the line perfectly so I'll have to go back and fix it a little another day.

Until I get the car clean, it's all you get.

lolz. Seeing as I don't have a penis, no that is not me. (rofl) I don't know what he's doing back there!

NICE! I went with semi-gloss for both, not sure what you used but looks semi-gloss. It looks great on white with the color contrast. Wasn't the bumper a b**** and a half to take off? something like 30 screws and push pins for everything.

Don't even get me started on taking that bumper off... I seriously never thought I would get it off. It's flat black with 2 coats of clear on the bumper and just the flat on my emblems.
