so i brought my car to a local autobody place to fix damage from an accident and they ****** up big time. clear coat over spray on the ENTIRE CAR! its everywhere. i brought it back 3 times and he finally did the whole car. came out like s*** needless to say. assholes. im done with them. im going to call up my insurance agent and request another shop. im going to take it to a paint restoration place with the extra claim money. what would i be looking about for a price on a decently well maintained paint job on this car? they will be taking out the coverspray and some spider web swirl marks but thats it. no major damage. anyone know a round about price for restoration?

they/them

hahaha. arnies auto body right downt he street from me in charlton. sorry. i guess them/they was a bit vague.

i just want someone who knows paint very well to buff/polish/whatever the whole thing because i hate thinking of how my paint has wierd little imperections all over. im just looking for a quote if someone ever had it done or knows of someone who had it done. i was thinking along the line of 200-300 but then again i have no idea.

what'd your insurance say about it? if the work sucks i always thought the shop has to make it right

The entire car will need to be wetsanded, cut (compounded) and polished. Your looking at significantly more than 300 dollars. Your looking at at least triple if not more for it to be done properly.

If you want better estimates, head on over to autopia.org, go into the professional section so you can get an idea for the work involved, and PM a local professional for a ballpark quote.

Jobs similar to what you situation ive seen been done for quite alot of money because of the time involved to do the work properly.

welcome to my world.

yes, the shop should have to make it right if they don't do a good job. problem is, they may not have the skills to do it right. (deadhorse

So you're basically looking for a job like this?

holy crap...thats great. yea thats what im looking for. there so much wrong with my paint now it makes me angry. i used to clean my car and be thrilled to show it off but now when i clean in im like, it looks clean but the paint sucks ass. to anyone else it will look fine/alright. to me it looks like ass. even polished and waxed fresh it doesnt look like it should. someone asked what the cost was on a job like that but got no anwswer you dont know for some reason do you? i could do all the prep work no problem for whomever takes the responsibility so its just paint care then thats it. thanks. perfect thread find for sure.

Go to Autopia.org and see if there are any professional detailers in your area that can give you an estimate and fix the damage. See if the paint shop will cover it.

i just called up the insurance agent and they called the auto place. they said they were supposed to go over it with a fine toothed comb. pffff. **** that they did. im going to find a local paint only shop who can look at the car and pull up some s*** on it that can get me to have them do it. ill take care of all the particulars and have the insurance claim adjuster look at the paint from what the paint specialist said and see if theyll give me a write up then move from there. all the auto place needed to do was paint a 1ft by 1ft section on the rear fender and oversprayed the whole car basically. stupid asses. its like if someone stole your car you just wish they dont bring it back because you have no clue what the hell they might have done to it. thats me...and my paint. hope this works out.

ill check up on autotopia tonight and see what i can dig up and wrap this up. i just want nice paint again.
