Paint is all screwed up

you might want to test the lacquer thinner in a small unseen area first to be sure it doesn't discolor the paint. It should be safe, as I have done it many times as well.

laquer thinner scares the hell out of me, i would be so nervous using it.

I've never had it take away either the clear coat or the underlying paint. Be it on a freshly sprayed paint job or paint that has been cured for much longer. Clear coat is not that delicate so as to simply wipe away. I don't know what else to suggest to you other than to try what ever method will not scare the hell out you to correct your paint issue.

OP - Great detail shop 171-08 39th Ave Flushing NY. Its in queens, dont know how far into the island you are but they do awesome work. costs between 250 & 350 depending on how far you want to go with it

hope you have the whole day, cheapest detail takes 4-6 hrs, mid level 6-8 and the high end is by appt only

I will try this if everything else fails

First try Denatured Alcohol, works on cleaning lots of paints from different surfaces, clear coat friendly.

Yeah, you guys treat clearcoat like itll disappear by just looking at it. Its more resiliant than you think.

Lacquer thinner will work because that spray paint is just sitting on the clear. You cant "wipe off" clearcoat.

ok so with the thinner i just put in on a rag and wipe it till the over spray is gone then wipe off with a clean cloth?

i would not use it on the mouldings or headlights. (i am unsure of the effect of it on plastic)

It will be fine on glass.

yea i just got it and its working great, gonna take a long time since on everywhere, and i am only doing very small section then wipe off the excess to be safe. I cant really do a full panel and let it dry on right?

Don't let it dry on, no. Then make sure you give it a coat of wax when you're done to re-seal the clear.

im only going to do section at a time over few days, dont want to make it a full day thing, i can just like do the hood wax it then do another section another day right

Glad its working out for you. On glass I find it works best with using an ultra fine piece of steel wool(will not scratch) along with the thinner.
