Paint CHIP?

I really ahte to bring this up and would be just as happy to hear that no one can back this, but....

has any of you chiped the paint on your ride yet. Just as I was closing down the shop at the dealership and the sales guy left I was waiting for someone to come and pick up the car I came in with so I could cruise home int he P5.

I noticed on the hood there was a nice little scratch and chip in the paint. straight down to the metal.. also about four more small ones on the fender...

I left the guys a voicemail right away and they said that they'd take care of it, but my questions is this...

Is Mazda's stock paint job really that thin? I'll try to post some pics tommorrow, but I'm telling you I could see down to the silver and it just didn't look like mroe than a couple coats on the paint job.

Also can someone else with a yellow P5 open their doors and post a picture of their inside door jambs? on mine there is a very distinct line where I can see black above the top hinge?

If I find out that this car was stripped and painted yellow I'm going to be PISSED..I know I still have a factory warranty on the paint and all that... I'm just having a hard time believing that Mazda paints the cars that thin.

I had a chevey truck previously and scrathed it nicely once. It went way down, but didn't hit metal.. It looks like they had about 10 coats of paint on that truck.

If you can answer the question about the paint job because you have nicked your car I apologize in advance... If your ever in SouthFLA hit me up and I'll buy you a beer!

I don't believe the paint is under warrenty...not as far as rock chips anyway...you should see my whole front end it looks like its been sandblasted and Mazda wouldn't do a damn thing about it...I just have to live with it until I have enough cheese to repaint the car...

Man you guys have really bad luck with paint or something. I have the blue mica and I have no problems with my paint whatsoever (9300 Miles) knock on wood.

Thanks for responding everyone.. The waranty thing i mentioned I think is for corrosions and such.. liek if the paint job started to fade out in patches or something...

the only reason the dealer is planing to fix my rid eI'm sure is becaus eit came off the lot that way.. I didn't notice, but called them from the parking lot.

Sure you could just get a bra to cover it up, you could even go get it repainted.......it might just get chipped again though.
I say just do what I did and use the chip as an excuse for a new hood!! (and the chip that was in my hood was about the size of a pinpoint!!)

My Yellow P5 hood is the same way..........as a matter of fact the paint on my hood is flaking off............as far as the door jam Ill have to look. As far as coating it (dont laugh my step dad told me about this) you can spray pam(non-stick cooking spray)on it......Im scared to try it for the fact that my hood is already messed up..........
