Pacemaker Headers

Hi all,

I found this website for an exhaust shop in Carlton, Sydney that sells Pacemakers headers for the SP20.

They are a 4-1 design with 42cm runners, have 2 o2 sensor fittings and the EGR fitting, 2 1/4" outlet and look to be made from mild steel all for $330.

I think I may be giving these bad boys a run in the new year. I believe that someone else on the board may also have these headers or simillar from Pacemaker, so if you do could you reply and tell us all of the quality.

I haven't contacted anyone else to see if I can get a cheaper price but $330 seems fair.

Ive got a OBX stainless steel one 4-1 goin for $370.
brand new still in plastic.

are the OBX a direct fit with no mods to EGR fitting or o2 wires?? What is the quality like? Do they come with a gasket?

luckily with our ecu, we dont require any o2 fix. any problems that might arise from the egr valve would be pretty minimal.

those pacemakers look pretty good. although mild steel wont last. 2 years tops really. performance wise dollar for dollar they'd be good, but they are mild steel.

what if they were ceramic coated?? longetivity would increase, but the price would then increase I guess.

would any problems arise from having the first o2 bung in one of the runners rather than in the collector? I have heard that problems may arise from leanouts if the o2 is before the collector as it is only reading one cylinder rather than all 4?? truth or myth?

I am keen on sabrelli's OBX's but can't afford right now. Do you think the wildcats would be simillar in performance?? having longer primaries would help lower in the revs yes??

a little, maybe an extra 2 years, but it will still die. HP coating costs $180 for the header (well that's what i paid)

O2 problems? none. mine works fine and i have the same setup. so in other words, myth (well atleast myth on our car)

wildcats are pretty similar to the pacemaker, with the longer tubes it does help low end yes, but very very very marginally. hell with my setup i've only lost 2-3kw max (flywheel) between 1500 and 3000rpm compared to stock, but gained 28kw at redline. i know which i'd rather have

w/o coating (ie just stainless steel) - 15years.

with coating, should outlast the car, so long as the coating doesnt get overheated. but with NA that shouldnt be a problem.
